Obama: 'We've Closed An Important Chapter In This Tragedy'

President Obama addresses the apprehension of a suspected bomber, and the tragedies in both Boston and West, Texas. By Michael O'Brien.

The nation has "closed an important chapter" in its response to a terrorist attack on Monday, President Barack Obama said Friday evening at the White House, capping what the president called a "tough week" that captured much of the nation's attention.

After a day of anxious waiting that played out live on national television and in social media, police apprehended Dzhokhar Tsarnaev — the second, remaining suspect in Monday's bombing of the Boston Marathon — alive following a daylong manhunt that shut down much of the Boston metro area. (snip) The president warned against any rush to judgment. "When a tragedy like this happens … it's important that we do this right. That's why we have investigations. That's why we relentlessly gather the facts. That's why we have courts," he said. "That's why we take care not to rush to judgment -- not about motivations of individuals, certainly not about entire groups of people."

That’s my reaction, as well. I cannot stand to see or hear him. It’s like turning away from satan.

I agree. I’m just saying that I don’t think his act is altogether convincing to very many people anymore. Emperor’s new clothes, and all that.

The chat in the comment sections of almost every news outlet I read has shifted dramatically away from any sort of support for him, his regime, his sycophant media, etc. The trust and the illusion seem gone, and you don’t get these back. Now all he’s got left is the power of his office - which he will increasingly try to abuse - and the True-Believer/Fellow-Travelers willing to fight to the end for The Revolution.

He should write that on a Hallmark card and send it to George Zimmerman.

There is no doubt that Obama is “Satan:, the anti-Christ”!!! The way he has completely ignored the tragedy, whether accident or terrorist attack in West, Texas is proof that he could care less about the town and people destroyed by the impact of an unkown caused explosion!!! Obama, should be impeached!!!

The president warned against any rush to judgment.

Did the police act stupidly, again? Is the perp still a terrorist? Rush to what judgement, you buffoon?

>"...why did young men who grew up and studied here, as part of our communities and our country, resort to such violence?" [Obama -- about Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev]

"Grew up" here? That claim is misleading, and Obama ought not be allowed to get away with it. It may apply to Dzhokhar to a substantial degree -- about 8 when he arrived -- but he "looks up to" his older brother Tamerlan [New York Times]. Tamerlan didn't arrive here until he was about 15 (immigrated in 2002, died at age 26 -- Boston Marathon bombings - Wikipedia). Five years after arriving he told a photographer who was covering his boxing, "I don't have a single American friend, I don't understand them." [The Guardian]

Besides, mere residence doesn't determine culture. For better or worse the internet allows people easy access to whichever cultures they prefer.

Unbelievable. Blame the single white female (unmarried, divorced, separated, and widowed) demographic of the population who both times according to Gallup voted “overwhelmingly” for Obama!

“Obviously tonight there are still many unanswered questions: Among them, why did young men who grew up and studied here, as part of our communities and our country, resort to such violence?”

Uh, because a very large percentage of the Muslim world hates Western civilization and wants to destroy it, but are too cowardly to do anything about it other than bomb innocent women and children?

He said that at the UN several years ago.

Actually he said it in September of 2012. It only feels like years ago. He said after Benghazi and in reference to the video he scapegoated.

He’s a dick.

I wouldn't say that. Think of it; what normal person doesn't like a dick? Men like them because they're the seat of male ego and sexual pleasure; women like them because they're the source of sexual pleasure. Certainly there has to be a better term to describe someone like Obama.
