I have a couple of thoughts...one was to have someone just before them before the bombing to make sure the path was clear and nothing would prevent them from exiting.

When we see white cap after the bombing as he turns the corner, you can almost hear someone telling him..."just keep going...your brother is right behind you. "X" will be at point "B".

And someone else is talking to the older brother...."Y" is at Point "C".

That would make that intersection (Fairfield) Point A.
