Well when you have “reporter” who can type articles that say things like:

how could you even hope to find out what is going on? Someone who imagines that a foreign consulate official could restrain someone and take them away, ie arrest them on American soil, is really has no business reporting to the rest of us.

Reminds me of some of the shots during the search - a few folks running around a corner to make for a good photo op and then milling around in confusion when confronted by a wide and empty avenue.
FBI hauls them in for questioning. They lie to the infidels that they know nothing. The FBI releases them. The bad guys’ “cleaning” crew sneak into the apt. to take care of business. The girls call their daddies and their daddies call the consulate to get them away from evil infidel American questions and onto the next plane out. The FBI notifies ICE they (all or some) are here on expired student visas forcing ICE to get off their backsides and do their job. ICE, reluctantly, picks up the guys. ICE will either turn them over to their consulate, will give them a free tax payer purchased plane ticket home away from any further FBI questions, or release them with a pinky swear that they’ll keep their paperwork up to date in the future.
