There used to be a basic distinction between military and humanitarian aid. Military aid meant weapons. Humanitarian aid meant medical and food supplies.
Nonlethal aid blends the two together by combining medical supplies with military gear into something that is military aid, but pretends not to be. Nonlethal aid is not humanitarian aid. It’s military aid that you give to enemy forces that you want to see win, but whom you don’t trust. It’s military aid that bypasses international blocks on military aid.
Nonlethal aid is dishonest. It tries to make military aid sound humanitarian by emphasizing defense rather than offensive equipment. But defensive battlefield equipment is still there for an offensive purpose when being dispensed to a force that is pushing forward to capture territory.
The United States is providing Syrian rebels with $123 million in new nonlethal aid that may include body armor and other types of supplies that haven’t been part of the assistance package in the past.
The additional money will double the nonlethal assistance to the Syrian opposition as well as increase humanitarian aid. The nonlethal aid could include armored vehicles, night vision goggles and advanced communications equipment.
Armored vehicles, body armor, night vision goggles and communications equipment are only nonlethal in the sense that you don’t use them to physically kill someone with. Instead you use them in military engagements in which people are being killed.

As much as a drink of water to a combatant is lethal aid. If you feed, water, and care for the wounded on only ONE side in a battle, you are directly helping their effectiveness as a fighting force.
That makes their lethality go up. Obama is a liar, and has made our military forces turn and assist Al Qeida now.

Assad is the Russians problem. They created him. They need to clean up their mess.
Otherwise we are being dragged into WWIII supporting the Sunni Caliphate, while the Russians and Chinese get dragged in supporting the Shiite Caliphate.
