Waltham police have stepped up their investigation of a 2011 triple homicide where a friend of suspected Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev was brutally murdered, according to a relative of one of the victims who was interviewed by the Globe.
The relative said Sunday that police have renewed the investigation at the request of victims’ relatives who believe Tamerlan, and perhaps his younger brother, Dzhokhar, played a role in the homicides. Authorities have said the victims all had their throats slit.

Yep..had similar thought too the other night..although I do think the government makes a big deal out of that date for citizenship and probably promotes it..although I do not know for sure. I do know that every anniversary since 911, the media always covers these citizens being made citizens on that date. It could also just be a creepy synchronicity.

More likely a case of three pot smoking infidels being killed by their former friend, customer and newly converted jihadist, Tamerlan.

I am not so sure it is a diversion. It could very well be a statement. Bare with me and consider this:
Tamerlan, who was becoming more religious, gave up his pot smoking ways. Perhaps he considered his former friends to be a bad influence on him. Maybe he broke down and smoked a bowl with them. Overcome with personal guilt he murdered them so that he wouldn't have to blame himself for his own actions. Dumping their own pot on them to show his disgust and prove that he was above that now. it really fits perfectly with islam, where women must cover themselves to remove temptation from the devotees of allah.

The slit throats are a dead giveaway. Its how Chechens traditionally kill their enemies, and they still routinely slaughter sheep/goats like that. A gang banger fighting over drugs would simply use a gun, killing three guys with a knife requires proficiency and immense strength (Tamerlan was a boxer).
Consider, Tamerlan’s brother may have been turning 18 sometime in 2011 and a drug arrest while hanging out with his best friend would no longer be a juvenile arrest. Higher stakes. The druggie friend put Tamerlan’s brother’s citizenship at risk, while Tamerlan’s future citizenship was already at great risk after the domestic violence charge and FBI questioning. Note that Tamerlan couldn’t legally purchase-possess even a long gun. If Tamerlan’s brother were to get a drug arrest hanging with his best freind after turning 18 in 2011-ish, then tamerlan’s ability to stay, plan, and amass long guns under his brothers name in the future was at risk. Once Tamerlan’s brother got the citizenship, his brother could readily purchase and legally possess long guns. This may have been seen as essential to Tamerlan’s planning. The druggie friend had to go.
More likely islam induced psychosis.
Further, if they wanted to train with guns and it’s likely they did, Tamerlan needed his brother to have citizenship. Else, how could they even risk traveling with the guns to go train with them. Tamerlan’s brother getting citizenship was essential to Tamerlan’s plan.
Tamerlan’s brother getting pitched with the druggie friend put everything at risk.
Drug abuse and religious escapism are both symptomatic of a failure to cope with, and adapt to, reality.
