TORONTO - Raed Jaser confidently looked at the packed courtroom of reporters during his brief appearance at Old City Hall Tuesday morning.
The 35-year-old Markham man who was arrested Monday along with co-accused Chiheb Esseghaier, of Montreal, in connection with a terror plot to bomb a passenger train, was remanded back to custody until May 23.
Evidence in the case was ordered under publication ban.
Jaser faces three charges, including conspiracy to interfere with transportation, conspiracy to commit murder and participating in a terrorist organization.
The bearded suspect, wearing a grey traditional Islamic dress, stood with his arms folded in the prisoners box.
He spoke his name and confirmed he was fluent in English to the Justice of the Peace.
His conditions include not to communicate with Esseghaier, 30.
As a number of family members left the court, they remained silent.
A man who identified himself as Jasers father said, Im here to support my son.

Wow that chick on the right is really hot.
What a sick, sick “religion”.
“Family members of Raed Jaser leave Old City Hall court in Toronto on Tuesday.”
Are they sure? How the hell would you know who they are?!
The one on the left looks like a man. The eyes/bridge area and the flat chest.
Oh, dear. Well, it's official. Thanks to the dopey West, we'll have a genuine Al Qaeda biochem attack sooner or later.
Muslim Brotherhood, Obama and his Muslim followers just had a big hole shot in their plans to overtake Canada and the United States. Muslim followers will have to go into a few days of mourning, their plans were foiled.
I have absolutely NO understanding of why these people are let into our countries. There is no rational reason!
Who’d of thunk this would be here in the west.
Stunning, truly breathtaking.
How did this costume become their regular dress? I am far too lazy and uninterested to research it.
