See this just proves that my parents were terrible horrible people. They taught us that if a person in authority (teacher, supervisor, police officer, etc....) tells you to do something; you do it. Even if you disagree with it you can complain about it later, but you won't be suspended, written up for insubordination, or get your @$$ thrown in jail for resisting arrest or disorderly conduct. You can always file a complaint later.

What do you tell the kids about dealing with authority figures who overstep their authority?

You can always file a complaint later. Tell that to the Jews.

Teachers are mini dictators.

Your parents were sheeple. The Left loves sheeple, who don’t stick their bowed heads above the crowd. The complaint filed after complying to orders is thrown in the nearest shredde,r and the overlords remain in power.
Thank God for the Founders, who had a different view and the courage to stand up for liberty.

But that was then, when the schools were run by (mostly) dedicated and intelligent professionals, and this is now, when the schools are run by blithering idiots (and the teachers are morons, too).
Things drastically changed between 1965 when I graduated from high school and 1986 when my oldest child entered school. I suspect that they are even worse now.

My mother taught me to never start a fight, but by gosh, don't you ever run from one...Its been in the last 30 years that authority has passed the point where it is legitimate and should be obeyed at all cost...

“You can always file a complaint later.”
Yeah, that’s the ticket! We’ve got to roll over any time some jerk teacher decides that he’s right and you are wrong! Glad you weren’t around “helping” the Founding Fathers establish this country. I’m hoping that when this is all over some money changes hands between the school district and the kid! I guess you don’t know the First Amendment very well!
