NewsCorp.s Rupert Murdoch and a coalition of buyers led by Ron Burkle and Eli Broad have been eyeing the Tribune Co. sale. But sources tell the NYT that Koch Industries, led by conservative billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch, could have a leg up on other bidders if they make an offer for all eight of Tribunes regional papers including the LA Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Baltimore Sun, The Orlando Sentinel and The Hartford Courant. Apparently the Koch Bros are only interested in newspapers not the TV stations for now.
I would subscribe if one of the conservatives bought it.
Happy news. : )
The Lefties are getting concerned.
Damn good news!
Newspapers are a dying breed. I’d rather they bought T.V. stations. Image and message get more people to watch in this gadgetry obsessed era.
Liberals apoplectic.
I would wait and see.
I haven't see much fight in the few conservative newspapers I have been able to get ahold of.
Yes they are, but they sliced their own throats by going full bore leftist, decades ago. The same mistake is being repeated across all forms of media today.
Because the newsies abandoned their principle duty of honestly informing the public, the public is increasingly abandoning them.
I'd be interested to see what would happen to the circulation of a newspaper that simply reported the facts, and firmly relegated ideological content to the editorial pages (like papers did in their heyday).
Who knows? It might just work.
Grew up with the Times in our house since 1959. I subscribed to the LAT after the Herald Examiner went under. Cancelled my subscription when they endorsed Zero in 2008, only to re-up after my better-half convinced me otherwise.
Cancelled again last November, despite my better-half.
But, if this happens...I will re-up.

Praise God!
I hope they don’t buy the NYT, and just let it bleed to death.
Yet another article effectively pushing the Koch brothers towards the newspapers and states that the television stations aren’t on the radar. Why? Since the television stations actually manage to make money, have shuffled off their debt into the newspaper group (transfer of pensions), and do not go through money like the Fed does, if the deal is to make money, then leaving the television stations to the liberals makes no sense.
But that’s how liberals operate - they want the Koch brothers in on the papers so they get rid of the huge white elephant of debt, and taking on all eight papers at the same time so that no real efforts can be made to manage them back to reality (financially and editorially.)
The Koch Brothers are pro-Republican, not conservative by my definition like Murdoch.
Just because the left-leaning media dubs someone “conservative” doesn’t necessarily make them so.
Your mention of Herald Examiner brought back memories.... My Grandfather would get the Sunday HE every week. We would stop by the market after Church and he would get the Herald. He never read LAT, just local Riverside Press.
Koch brothers are not conservative, they are uber libertarian. Pro-sodomite “marriage”.
Conservative Koch Brothers Circling Tribune Newspapers Including LA Times: Ultra left-wing NYT
The point I’ve been making for several months.
Us conservatives have money too - how about we BUY some of the media outlets, rather than spend all our time WHINING about them being liberal.
Advice to Koch: If you do wind up buying them, PLEASE FIRE everyone with a “Journalism” or “Communications” degree. First, those types of degrees bring NOTHING as far as skills needed in media, and second, those programs are breeding grounds for left-wing radicals at universities (I saw that first-hand). FIRE THOSE PEOPLE, and replace them with people that have don’t have politicized degrees but can still write a story - and there are plenty of them.
Hey Ernest I would go back to LA Liars if they do
Only time I buy the LA Times for Sunday coupons
The job of the news media is to comfort the afflicted
and afflict the comfortable. Opinions are fine but
I like to see issues presented fairly from all view-
points. When it comes to news, just the facts, not
spin. Liberals have proven to be incapable of reporting
without spinning and slanting. It is part of their nature.
Anything that can remotely be related to politics is
fair game to them (League of Women Voters, AARP, Ecological
organizations, etc). I would expect a conservative
controlled media to be every bit as hard on conserva-
tives and conservatisim as on liberals and liberalism.
You can’t grow and improve society without challenge.
Why so-called liberal intellectuals have never figured
this out is mindboggling.
Just my outlook.
