Had a Marine COL buddy of mine that was stationed with the Irish Troops somewhere in the Mid East and the guy was your typical NY Irishman - brash, cocky, (chopper pilot in VN), red headed —all 5 brothers, Father and couple of Uncles were Marines, the other 4 bros getting out and joining NYPD where Father was a ranking Officer. Also a Funeral Home in the family and a Nun and Priest...got em coming and going....
ANYWAY, he was drinking with the Irish ‘peacekeepers’ (whoda thunk there was drinking going on?) and he declared himself an Irishman and was QUICKLY rebuked ‘No lad, you are just a Yank with an Irish surname’.

Them Irish must not have been IRA fundraisers, I’ve seen them milk the green cows and let them mooo about their Irishness.

The usual Communist trick. I was just a kid but I remember the 1948 May Day parade in NYC. Seemed like a lot of people marched by until my dad said they marched from Columbus Circle down about 10-15 blocks, then got on the subway, rode back up to 59th St and joined in the rear of the parade.
An old lasy across the hallway from us was a Communist and usually left "The Daily Worker" lying in the apartments vestibule in an attempt to convert people. I remember the headlines after the parade: "THOUSANDS march in the May Day parade, showing that support is growing for The Party!"
We wrote mocking jokes all over the rag and left it there.
Makes me want to get about 100 gun owners togther and stand there in a line and play a game of “reverse red rover” start hollering in unison and make them think this huge mass is gonna charge them but stop about a foot away, how much you wanna bet they start running like the pansies they are when you are less than 15 feet away?
