It is hard to imagine the US was taken by surprise by Brun's statement. Just the day before, Brun briefed visiting US Defense secretary Chuck Hagel on Syria. It is not possible he failed to mention the same information.

Apparently Israel completely underestimates the absolute total incompetence of the Obama Administration.

From North Korea to Benghazi, Libya, Egypt and the muslim brotherhood, failing to take advantage of the student uprising in Iran, the "muslim spring" and Venezuela, the Obama Administration has repeatedly demonstrated their ability to mis-read world events.

I fail to understand why Israel who's no doubt been watching the incompetence of the Obama Administration could express "surprise" that John MF'n Kerry wouldn't have the same information as Chuck U-Israel Hagel.
