Thanks for that post ~ did a quick rundown on his forebears and lo and behold ol' Propper de Callejón shows up. I did some pricing of stamps in what had been his stamp collection.

You know those items in the front pages of the stamp catalogues where the last bid prices were in the tens of thousands ~ he had all of them!

I'd guess he must have brought them with him on his way to Washington ~
