Doctors and nurses were welcome at the bombing scene. Firefighters and police officers were welcome. But Catholic priests, who might have offered the solace of the sacraments, were not.
Catholics need not apply. That slogan was familiar in Boston years ago, before Irish and Italian immigrants took over control of the city. Now, after decades of decline in Catholic influence , the attitude has returned. One priest who was barred from Boylston Street remarked that in the past a priest was admitted anywhere. Thats changed, he said. Priests are no longer considered to be emergency responders.

But it is a poignant irony that Martin Richard, the 8-year-old
boy who died on Boylston Street, was a Catholic who had
received his first Communion just last year. As Martin lay dying,
priests were only yards away, beyond the police tape, unable to
reach him to administer last rites
How quickly it unravels, no?
I am just about to enter retirement, and I am laying plans
for this last of life's chapters: To the battle! Abortion murder,
jihad infiltration, religious freedom will be my 3 staging areas. If a majority
of we Boomers suited up in these golden years, maybe we could leave something of value behind.

Chaplains belong on the battlefield.

This is so very sad, and disturbing at the same time.
Looks like we have become a pro-Muslim, anti-Catholic society.

There it is, in crystal clarity.
Remember the scene in The Longest Day where the Anglican priest
has parachuted along with the troops led by John Wayne, and spends the
extra time looking for his Communion kit? Parachuted with the boys?
What in God's name has happened to us?

We’ve been infiltrated. Look up ‘Operation Snow White’. Apparently, it’s quite easy to do.

What do you think the scene in Boston was, if not a battlefield, dumbass?
I presume that is what he inferred; in fact, it never occured to me that he thought otherwise. Would I have that right, bunkerhill7?

Given what Boston has given us in politics, and what it has become, I no longer give a smelly Omappbma what happens there.

Truely sad!
BTW - Can you imagine the left-wing media driven outrage if a muslim cleric was there, and refused entry to give last rites to some islamic POS...

If you think Catholics in Catholic Boston are excluded, try getting in as a evangelical Protestant. MA and Boston is one of the most resistant areas to the gospel, with a history of institutionalized religion, which lead to secularization.

May God bless Martin Richard and the priest who was trying to reach him. This is an outrage — that Martin could not receive the Anoiniting of the Sick from a priest.
