Last Words: Texas Con Calls Lethal Injection 'Awesome'

Richard Cobb: Murder

Convicted murderer Richard Cobb stared into the face of the Texas prison warden who attended his execution Thursday night and told him that the lethal drugs just injected into his body were "awesome."

Cobb, 29, spent a decade on death row for the murder of Kenneth Vandever, a man whom he abducted and later killed in a convenience store robbery 11 years ago. Cobb abducted Vandever, then 37, and two other women whom he shot with a shotgun and left for dead. The women survived to call police, but Vandever died.

Cobb never denied his role in the murder.

'Life is death, death is life. I hope that someday this absurdity that humanity has come to will come to an end,' Cobb said when asked for his last words. "Life is too short. I hope anyone that has negative energy towards me will resolve that. Life is too short to harbor feelings of hatred and anger. That's it, warden," he said according to an Associated Press reporter who witnessed the execution.

Those were his last words in this life. In the next, his first words were, “oh crap”

Unrepentant murder will face a terrible judgement. He could have apologized to his victims and asked for forgiveness. Instead, he embraced evil once again and it will have him forever.

See, nothing cruel or unusual about it. I’ll bet the feeling of a rope around the neck is awesome too. Enough with having these convicted scumbags sitting around death row for years, let’s roll.

Maybe more of the killers on death row will be envious and ask to be dispensed forthwith with the same “awesome” method NOW instead of dragging their appeals on for years.

I was big on the protection of the holders of office when I had to do that training.

I don't like Corny any more than any other conservative, but he doesn't rate that, and that's not how we operate here.

Cruz won. Dewhurst lost, and will lose Lt. Gov. in 2014. That's the way we do things.

Lawfully.

Hanging politicians isn't required right now.

“Hanging politicians isn’t required right now.”

If not now, when? I guess I’d be satisfied if Cornyn would just “go home to spend more time with his family.” Cornyn is further evidence that you can’t chrome plate a turd!

I won't advocate violence.

I would be satisfied if Dewhurst retired to his ranch and stayed there. I intend to make that happen, in fact.

Numbers 35:

31 Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.

I am reminded of the case of Frederick Charles Wood, the second to last man to ride the lightning at Sing Sing in New York, on 21 March 1963. His last words were, "Gentlemen, observe closely as you witness the effect of electricity on Wood."

A friend once told me, “its not death I fear so much, its the judgement on the other side.”
