Given the good relations Gibraltar has now established with the EU in our own right, our government needs to use those to ward off a new attack by Spain.
The Ministro de Hacienda y Administraciones Publicas, Cristobal Montoro, says that Spain has signed an accord with other European countries to form a working group to force the EU to eradicate what Spain calls paraisos fiscales.
Montoro has Gibraltar firmly in his sights, and confirmed Spanish media reports that the Agencia Tributaria had formed a working group to stamp out tax evasion; specifically, the millions of euros Madrid insists are implanted in companies registered in Gibraltar.

People are evading your obscene taxes? You don’t say? Get over it Spain.
The thing I have against these tax havens, especially those under British rule, is that they enjoy British protection without paying for any of its upkeep. That is how they can afford such low taxes.
So the parásitos fiscales want to get rid of the paraisos fiscales.
Most Spaniards have said that Gibraltar is of little to no importance in Spain’s politics. But let’s have peaceful ending to this. Though both the U.K. & Spain would differ with me on Gibraltar, make Gibraltar an independent nation. Yes, Gibraltar did originally belong to Spain which the U.K. won in 1704 war & while the Gibraltarans ancestors aren’t the original inhabitants, the Gibraltarans are born there so it is their homeland. So yes, my view is make Gibraltar a demilitarized independent natioe.
Though this isn’t about Falkland Islands, I also say that make the Falkland Islands or Las Islas Malvinas an independent nation without influence of either Argentina or the U.K. But Argentina doesn’t want Falkland Islands or las Islas Malvinas to be independent because Argentina mainly wants oil, fish & natural gases that the Falkland Islands have while the British have said that they’re willing to let the Falkland Islands become independent. Anyhow, that’s best solution-Falkland Islands becomes a demilitarized independent country which neither Argentina nor the U.K. controls with those in las Islas Malvinas or the Falkland Islands deciding how to run their nation.
I don’t think either of those tiny states want to be independent.
Neither Spain nor Argentina is going to invade so I don’t see the problem unless there is another junta in Argentina.
