The Miami Dolphins quest for public funding for an overhaul of Sun Life Stadium will go down to the wire in the Florida Legislature.
After hopes appeared to be fading early Friday, the Senate version of the bill was scheduled for a second reading on Monday. There are five days remaining in the session, and the House version of the bill remains bogged down in committee.

The team is running commercials saying taxpayers won't pay for it..."tourists" will, because the money is supposed to come from a hotel tax.
Except the money "tourists" spend is volatile and the money spent on the increased taxes WON'T be spent on other goods and services.
More corporate welfare...why don't the Dolphins ask some of their celebrity owners to chip in?
The LIV’s will vote for it, rest assured. It boggles the mind. But most of the LIV’s get some form of govmint check and do not care where the money comes from.
Why are taxpayers SUBSIDIZING multi-millionaires chasing an oblong ball on a team owned by a billionaire???
Not likin' the new logo.
You won’t stop it. We had Republicans in charge of both houses of the Minnesota Legislature last year and they caved in to build the Vikings a a new taxpayer-financed playground.
Please accept my sympathies ina dvance.
or even, in advance. :)
The current controversy here is that the electronic pulltabs they were counting on to provide part of the ‘state’ share of revenue are pulling in about five percent of projections.
This is one thing good Democrats and Republicans can agree on, that taxpayers shouldn’t fund this kind of thing. Shame the politicians cave.
1974-1989 is the best logo. I agree, I don’t like the new one. Looks more like a whale than a Dolphin. The Miami Whalers.
Mr. Ross has the money, let him foot the bill.

Think this was one of the most popular logos too that they have been changing.
Where's the helmet?

It was build in 1987...good for another 20 years at least...
Seating capacity is 75,000...how about filling it up before building another one
After the Marlins debacle..how is this even being considered?
What gripes me the most is that some idiot in “stuffing” will be making millions of dollars a year throwing around a blown up pigskin while the rest of us scrape for a week to week living. This is pure crony capitalism that has to end.
“This is pure crony capitalism that has to end.”
I agree, but I’ll bet you that amongst the posters here on FR there is an ample supply of folks who think this is a good thing because it allows them to sit in front of their TV with a beer and watch a bunch of mostly Black morons run around it tight jock straps.
If building and maintaining a stadium or arena was proiftable, the professional sports teams would insist on building and paying for their own facilities.
Why don’t they ask Sun Life to pay for the overhaul of Sun Life Stadium?
Why don’t they just go back to the Orange Bowl? They haven’t won a thing since they left.
