WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. authorities have long cast a wary eye on counterterrorism intelligence from Russia, Obama administration officials say, raising questions about whether a "trust deficit" clouded efforts to determine if Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev posed a danger.

Any intelligence disconnect between the United States and Russia could have broader repercussions, complicating plans to cooperate on security for the 2014 Winter Olympics in the Black Sea resort of Sochi, not far from Russia's restive north Caucasus region.

U.S. officials said they consider counterterrorism information emanating from Moscow's bitter conflict with Islamist militants in Chechnya and other parts of the volatile north Caucasus especially suspect.

What little is known about how the FBI and other U.S. agencies handled a 2011 tip from Russia's FSB spy service that Tsarnaev, an ethnic Chechen, had become a follower of radical Islam suggests they dealt with it professionally, although not as a top-priority matter.

But it would not have been out of character for the U.S. government to take a jaundiced view of such information. In Tsarnaev's case, Moscow provided few details, U.S. officials have said.

When the US (NATO) whacked Serbia in support of the Kosovo terrorist Muslim insurrection, they made their bed, and now Boston (and subsequent targets) get to sleep in it.

The US cannot recognize valuable intel from Russia because it's accuracy puts the lie to the US war on Serbia and Christian Slavs, and criminalizes the US government, agencies, and government employees.

The info on terrorist attack from FSB was against all that US policy in last 20 years. By accepting warning, US gov. would admit that all it has been done in pas 20 years was WRONG.
Therefore the info was rejected.

Simple math- It is much less damage to led bombs go off and lose some American lives than to admit that gov. was wrong.

Like Chernobyl in USSR. It blew up and commie gov. kept it quiet letting people be exposed to radioactive rain on Mayday parade...

Commie is what commie does.

Commie is what commie does.

That is a key to analysis.

Obama and the American Democrats do commie very well.

Putin and his Russian Nationalist party don't do commie hardly at all.

A statement that Russia has failed to provide additional information in beyond ridiculous.
Since when KGB is a branch of CIA&FBI?
Russian intelligence has agents, wiretaps why do they have to disclose it to foreign agencies who called Chechen terrorist a Freedom Fighters no so long time ago?
IMO, a couple of official warnings is too much.

We had more than enough warning for the panty bomber, too. His father even went to the embassy.

And we had Hasan nailed as a BIG problem. We gave him a raise and a transfer and a blessing.

This is all about PC and Obama's "I will side with the.....

Even the Boston bombers...Obama had the nerve to say don't come to any conclusions.
