President Barack Obama is nominating Charlotte, N.C., Mayor Anthony Foxx, a rising star in Democratic politics, to run the Transportation Department, a White House official said...
Foxx will be the first black nominee among Obama’s picks for open spots in his second-term Cabinet. The president has faced questions, including from the Congressional Black Caucus, about a lack of diversity in his first round of nominations after winning re-election.
If confirmed by the Senate, Foxx would take over a department that has been at the center of Washington’s debate over the impact of the so-called sequester cuts. The automatic cuts resulted in furloughs for air traffic controllers that spurred delays at many airports.

I’ll take a contrary position. I think this is a great pick. Granted, I live in Charlotte, so my judgement may be biased. However, from where I sit, we’re removing an incompetent Mayor without a recall, and sending him up to DC to help arrange the deck chairs on the SS Obama. A two-fer!

obama picked him because he is black, and the dim-0 party knows that in order to keep winning elections, they have to keep putting up black candidates. That is the only way to keep blacks turning out in massive numbers.This guy will likely be running for high office soon.
HERE, HERE!!..I Also live in Charlotte, and expressed that same opinion on a thread yesterday... He was praised on CNN for helping add A RUNWAY at Charlotte/Douglas Airport. They had nothing else really to say. I will also be glad to hand Dumbo MR. RUNWAY.

The only “help” he provided on the new runway at Charlotte-Douglas airport was having the good sense to keep out of Jerry Orr’s way (now THAT guy knows how to run an airport!).
The other thing he (Foxx) had going for him is that, when the Democrat party came up $10 million short on when paying back Charlotte for the costs of putting on the Obama coronation events last summer, he said “never mind”, sticking us residents and taxpayers with the bill. I can’t help but wonder if that was part of the decision process to tap Foxx for the position ...
The good news is that this screws CT governor Dannel Malloy who has been angling for this job since before he got elected. His hero Obama, for whom he furthered restrictive gun laws stayed true to his race and tossed Malloy under the bus.
Foxx will be the first Transporation Secretary in history who has lost an entire airprt.

He has light rail experience and Grid lock on I-77 and I-485. They are fighting to keep trolley looking buses in uptown running.

Charlotte needs him lost in the Wash. Politics. I left for Fort Mill SC because Meck county thinks they own the state. I lived in Union county which had to pay for most of the Charlotte taxes cause thats where the most of the services come from; water, power, phone,...
