WA:Anti-gunners will launch gun control initiative campaign

Washington state firearms owners will learn Monday morning what kind of fight they will have on their hands when a group calling itself the Washington Alliance for Gun Responsibility – which sounds increasingly like “gun registration” – reveals its political plans.

Meanwhile, some folks on the Seattle Guns forum are looking at a different initiative effort, and they're already working on it. This would be called the Firearms Freedom Act of 2013.

And there are also concerns about whether background checks might collide with patient privacy under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

According to the Everett Herald and Seattle P-I.com, WAGR will launch a gun control initiative that may require 300,000 signatures to get on the ballot. It is not clear what will be included in that initiative measure, but in a recent appearance with WAGR co-chair Tina Podlodowski, she let slip that the gun prohibitionists are interested in, among other things, how gun owners “properly” store their firearms.

Now would be a good time for Evergreen State residents to wonder how, exactly, the WAGR folks would accomplish that. Would there be unscheduled, warrantless searches, a’la Sen. Adam Kline’s ill-fated “assault weapon ban” bill?

This will be pandered as a "gun safety" measure, but as this column noted, that's a fraud.

Over the weekend at the monthly Washington Arms Collectors’ gun show in Puyallup – discussed by this column – there were more than a few concerns expressed about the “next move” against the civil rights of firearms owners. Invariably, they were reminded that campaigns cost money and now is not too early to start amassing a war chest to fight back.

Campaigns cost money, but building defeat on false ideas of supermajority support looks like a potential winner for defending the Constitution.

Oh yeah, gun control at the state level will make their ballot initiatives for gay marriage look like a massive success.
