STUTTGART, Germany, April 5, 2013 Army Gen. David M. Rodriguez became U.S. Africa Commands third commander here today during a ceremony at the commands headquarters with Army Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, presiding.
Rodriguez succeeds Army Gen. Carter F. Ham, who is retiring after a 39-year career that included two years as an enlisted infantryman in the 82nd Airborne Division.
