To be Clear About Mark Zuckerberg’s Americans for a Conservative Direction
redstate ^ | April 24, 2013 | Erick Erickson

I just want to be clear about about the new front group for the Gang of Eight’s immigration proposal on the right, Americans for a Conservative Direction.

The group, funded by Facebook billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, is perfectly entitled to set up this group. A good bit of the center-right coalition supports the issue.

That’s not my problem

My problem is that this is just another example of Republican consultants seemingly bleeding people dry for crappy work product.

They call themselves Americans for a Conservative Direction, but one of their first ads is a poorly produced ad supporting Lindsey Graham, who is not exactly a stalwart of the conservative movement these days.

Their website is poorly produced — more an alpha launch than a beta launch.

Even the Marco Rubio advertisement, which is airing in Texas today, is poorly produced.

Both of them have Methuselah as the narrator and they look cheap.

If Zuckerberg wanted to do a low cost PAC to support an issue he cares about, that’s all well and good. But to look cheap and to be politically tone-deaf on the Lindsey Graham issue while calling the group Americans for a Conservative Direction is just pathetic.

My guess is that the consultants involves saw just another way to make a quick buck without a lot of energy, thought, or effort.

What I find fascinating is how connected to the Republican National Committee’s audit Haley Barbour and Sally Bradshaw are. Haley’s nephew Henry was on the audit committee, as was Sally Bradshaw herself. Virtually no words were spent on the disaster that was the Republican consultant class bleeding the RNC and Mitt Romney dry in 2012. And now here Sally Bradshaw and Haley Barbour are on a committee that looks to promote an issue, but looks more like Republican consultants finding another sucker in Mark Zuckerberg to bleed dry.

The work product should look far better and the tone, if calling themselves conservative, should not be pro-Lindsey Graham out of the gate.

Whether you disagree or not with them, surely the work product could be better.

OKAY! Another article this morning mentioned 'Americans for a Conservative Direction'.

[snip]"But for Rubio and other Republicans pushing the immigration bill, the conservative backlash is the immediate problem, and they are doing what they can to tamp it down. Americans for a Conservative Direction is running ads in Florida, North Carolina, Texas and three other states. " http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3014089/posts

Americans for a Conservative Direction http://www.americansforaconservativedirection.com/ IT IS A RUBIO AMNESTY AD! RUN BY AMNESTY HACKS! Our Board

Haley Barbour Former Governor Haley Barbour served as the 62nd governor of Mississippi from 2004 to 2012 and served as Chairman of the Republican National Committee in the mid ‘90s.

Sally Bradshaw Sally Bradshaw worked as former Florida Governor Jeb Bush’s Chief of Staff from 1999-2001, and served as a Co-Chair of the Republican National Committee’s Growth and Opportunity Project.

Another missed article on this new amnesty pushing group financed by Zuckerberg:

Facebook Pro-Amnesty Lobby Runs Pro-Graham Ads as “Americans for a Conservative Direction”

April 26

Because when you think of Facebook’s bratty millionaire overlords and illegal alien amnesty, the first thing that comes to mind is conservatism.

What is even weirder is that Mark Zuckerberg, as part of an amnesty push coalition with Obama, is funding ads attacking ObamaCare in praise of Senator Lindsey Graham.

Essentially Obama Inc. is helping set up anti-Obama ads to make Senator Graham look good. A billion dollar liberal dotcom operating out of Menlo Park, California, is creating ads touting Graham as a voice for South Carolina’s conservative values.

We are in very strange and dishonest territory here.

The Mark Zuckerberg-backed organization pressing for immigration reform will launch its first wave of television ads Tuesday, in a move aimed at shoring up support for a large-scale immigration deal on the right, strategists for the group told POLITICO.

FWD.us, the organization formed to push Silicon Valley’s priorities in Washington, will advocate for a new immigration law through a subsidiary group created specifically to court conservatives. Americans for a Conservative Direction will spend seven figures to run ads in more than half a dozen states, according to strategists who sketched out the organization’s plans.

Despite being the subsidiary of one of the biggest internet companies around, Americans for a Conservative Direction has one of the crudest placeholder websites you can imagine and its Facebook campaign is not going well.

And its Facebook campaign isn’t going well either. Its fan page only has 17 likes and there are only comments from 4 people there, 3 out of 4 comments are negative.

Facebook could drive a lot more traffic to the page if it wanted to. Clearly it doesn’t care. It spent X amount of money on the ads to reassure amnesty politicians that it will provide them with some support, but it hasn’t even bothered to do the basics online. It’s ironic that a Republican online presence, even when overseen by Facebook, is so inept, but it’s not truly surprising. A sham is a sham and no one really wastes much time or effort investing in it.

Michigan is a breeding ground for this sort of facade that hides liberalism. My suspicion is on autopilot.

33 MILLION new immigrants, many who can't speak English enough to get a job to support themselves, and many from rouge nations that want to kill Americans, is NOT a conservative idea.

If Republicans vote for this - there will be no Republican party. Period. It's suicide.

I don't care if big money (and their political donations) support it. I'm not a politician.

A good line up of senators who are for or against this bill...most have not yet declared. We need MORE in the against column!

We need to keep a running thread of which Senators are FOR or AGAINST this monstrous bill. TRAITORS or PATRIOTS.

I find it that Mark Zuckerberg must believe what he believes regardless of party and liberal or conservative. That is a rare person who doesn’t go along with the sheep.

Here is a good article on Mark Zuckerberg and his endless hunt for more cheap labor. That is what this king midas is all about—more and more money. He hires H1B workers and snubs Americans. These cyber billionaires just want their coolie labor in China, Indian H1B expendable techies and Mexican servants. What does he need Americans for? He can live in his perfect plutocrat paradise without having to even look at his countrymen. Who needs Americans, anyway?
