Atheist pamphlets coming to Orange County schools [Orlando, Florida]

Atheist pamphlets are coming to Orange County public schools. They will be distributed on Thursday in almost one dozen public high schools. Some Christians say that is insulting, because Thursday is America's National Day of Prayer.

The Freedom from Religion Foundation will make the atheist materials available to students. Organizers say they are not trying to recruit new atheists and claim they don't really want to be in the schools at all.

Visit the Freedom from Religion Foundation website and you will find the sort of atheist pamphlets, brochures and books that will be placed on tables for students to pick up if they are interested.

Daniel Koster is a student at Wekiva High School. He is also an atheist working on the effort to make the atheist materials available to students.

"Certainly, our goal is not to recruit more atheists. We just want to make the point that everyone should be treated equally," said Koster. "A couple of months ago, we had people handing out bibles at the school, and we thought if they are allowed to hand out Christian materials, we should be allowed to hand out other materials."

In January, the Christian group World Changers made bibles available to students at Orange County high schools. The atheists say they want separation of church and state. They don't want any religious groups passing out pamphlets in our schools.

With the exception of Thomas Paine, I cannot think of any avowed atheist who contributed significantly to our founding. Nevertheless, I recognize they do have a legitimate case to make if they want to distribute their stuff.

Freedom from Religion Foundation. These are the same people who say they don’t want our beliefs shoved at them, but they go far out of their way to shove their beliefs on others.

There are two major tenents of atheism:

1. There is no God
And
2. I hate Him.

I wonder what happens if the FFRF shows up with their athiest pamphlets and the Christians show up to leave tracts at the school on the same day. One group will be turned away and told what they are doing is unconstitutional (though it’s not; the MSM has brainwashed them) and will be treated hatefully. Can you guess which one?

That’s right, you’ll never see a religious pamphlet in a school, because they don’t allowed them, under the false pretense that it’s unconstitutional. Anti-religion is clearly allowed, however. Nevertheless, someone should try it just to see what happens.

Fine! You're not allowed to be discussed in schools! Solved!

I wonder if these guys would have the stones to hold a pig-pickin’ on the first day of Ramadan in any public location.

On closer examination, it appears so.

So, are theist pamphlets (generic if you will) also being allowed?

The “legitimate” case is that both sides are equally presented to the children, since all religion is otherwise “banned”.

Of course you want to recruit more atheists. Lying is not a good start
No one is treated equally. If they were I would earn the same amount of money as Kobe Bryant. I don’t. We are not treated equally........

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Too bad I don’t live in Orange Ounty. If I did I would put together a group of Christians and distribute tracts at the same time as the FFRF distributed theirs and wear covert body worn cameras to film the school officials and teachers reactions and air it worldwide on the Internet the same day. I say use ground based guerilla tactics to deal with them and show their true colors. Hey if Alinsky can do it do can we.

The atheists are just another religion, as this story illustrates, though they will fight you tooth and nail with really poor arguments when you point this out.

These people are a laugh-a-minute.

Thomas Paine was not an atheist. If anything, he was a Deist.
