Henninger: Presidential Followership
WSJ ^ | May 1, 2013 | DANIEL HENNINGER

Posted on 05/02/2013 2:35:23 AM PDT by pieceofthepuzzle

At the president's news conference Tuesday, when a reporter wondered whether setbacks on gun control and the sequester suggested Mr. Obama was having problems pushing his second-term agenda, the president replied, "Well if you put it that way, Jonathan, maybe I should just pack up and go home."

Whoa, big fella. The presidency is a big game. We want you suited up and on the floor.

That the presidency attracts individuals focused on Number One is no revelation. But it has always been possible that one of them would disappear so far into the ethers of ego that neither he nor anyone else would know where the country was going. In an all-media world, that's not good, and even dangerous.

I prefer he not 'suit up' and be 'on the floor', but rather that he stay in his PJs and watch ESPN. That said, he doesn't have to be actively involved in anything in order to hurt the nation. He's put into place enough hardcore leftists to do plenty of damage irrespective of what he personally does.

I'd prefer he resign and go back to Kenya/Indonesia or whatever part of hell he came from. Biden and all the rest of 'em, too. We can fix some/much of the damage, but another 3½-yrs, and it'll be too late.

Obama is an imtellectually lazy, usurping narcissist - as out of his depth as anyone I've e everr seen in my life in any field of endeavor. His rambling, excuse filled pablum qt these "news conferences" is an affront to the history of chief executiveship.

My prediction is abandonment by his followers and a complete collapse of his particular brand of phony baloney cocksuredmess. At that point wel'll see a presidential meltdown that rises to what can only be imagined.

this us what we've all been waiting for - seriously, pass the popcorn.

“We can fix some/much of the damage, but another 3½-yrs, and it'll be too late.”

I don't think we can truly begin to fix the damage until we throw away political correctness and start openly speaking the truth and debating what is happening in our society.

It is not acceptable that we can't point out the dangers of unbridled immigration - legal as well as illegal - without being shouted down as ‘xenophobic’ ‘not in my backyard’ types.

It is not acceptable that we can't openly discuss the fact that many welfare recipients don't deserve to receive these benefits and are bilking the system and taxpayers, without being shouted down as ‘racist’ or ‘against the poor’ etc.

It is not acceptable that we can't criticize what comes out of the entertainment industry without being shouted down as ‘puritanical’, ‘hypocritical’, or labeled a religious zealot.

The list is very, very long, but we are no longer free to speak in our own country. If you can't speak openly about the problems, it becomes very hard to fix them.

You and I both know what it’s going to take, but I fear our side doesn’t have the guts for it. That said, the country is irreparably damaged; exactly his agenda. And it will get a whole lot worse before he’s out of there.

“Obama is an imtellectually lazy, usurping narcissist”

He's also one of the many who have been deluded by the ‘academy’ into thinking that they are particularly smart and that their ‘wisdom’ is required by the world. University environments have become self-deluding, and those who go from the academy to politics with little in between are particularly dangerous because of their unwavering belief in their sophomoric world view. When you take that kind of person and feed their narcissistic needs with political power, they become impervious to the truth if it doesn't coincide with their personal ‘reality’.

Actually, we want him resigned and on a golf course somewhere so we can find a grown-up to run the free world.

“Well if you put it that way, Jonathan, maybe I should just pack up and go home.”

ironically, he said that as if it would be a bad thing

Interestingly, when I think of Obama, my thoughts are actually focused on "number two"...
