If it were up to voters, the 2016 presidential race would be a battle between Hillary Rodham Clinton and Gov. Chris Christie, according to a poll released by Kean University today.
According to the poll, 67 percent of Democratic voters said they would support Clinton the former First Lady, U.S. Senator from New York and Secretary of State for president. Vice President Joe Biden finished a distant second
There's a sense that the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination is Hillary Clinton's for the asking," Terry Golway, director of the Kean University Center for History, Politics, and Policy, said in a statement. "This poll of New Jersey Democrats certainly confirms that thinking."
As for Republican voters, 41 percent said they'd support Christie for president. U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida was second with 18 percent.
The poll also shows that Christie's approval rating at home continues to soar: 71 percent of the poll's 1,000 respondents said they either strongly approved or somewhat approved of his performance. Sixty-one percent of Democrats approve of the job he's done, as well as 66 percent of African-Americans, 61 percent of those who consider themselves liberals, and 72 percent of moderates.
In other poll questions:
58 percent either strongly approve or somewhat approve of President Barack Obama's performance.
56 percent said they support immigration reform leading to a path to citizenship.
82 percent favor criminal background checks before gun sales.
64 percent said they believe violent movies, television shows and video games contribute to violence in society.
74 percent said society is more violent today than it was 25 years ago.
The poll was conducted from April 25-29 and surveyed 1,000 likely voters in New Jersey. The margin of error was 3 percentage points.

Fatter and fattest. Both equally unqualified and stupid.
The cellulite ticket.
Once again, they’re messaging the electorate years ahead of time to annoint the party candidates.
It’s 2013 and the media is already picking the next Republican candidate for us. We’re told by Democrats and Republicans that creating a new party will surely fail. I’ll argue that the Republican Party will surely fail.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
The Jihadist in charge will never let Hillary back in.
Well I guess there’s hope for change for two fat A$$E$ anyways!!!
I agree.
Cristi will never never, ever ever, make it as a Republican.
Doesn’t matter anyway. The next one is already chosen
and once it went black, it will never go back!
Trying to get in our heads to cover up what they’re doing now.
Regardless, her poll numbers are very mysterious to me. She is a proven divisive figure, and should not be able to assemble any sort of 50+% coalition without massive MSM interference on her behalf.
"Take it all, b*tch....ALL of it!!"
No to Christie, no to old school can’t balance a budget or stand on principle Republicans and no to most all Libertarians.
We need good people of character to run IMO.
We may all be called upon to elect someone to preside over a Country in total ruin.
Hitlery, Tubby.. who cares.
Ole Fat Boy wants to run as a Democrat? An the Republicans will let him.
It's all propaganda.
I give both the finger.
No, left-wing pollsters are lying as usual.
