Weird but true: Shedding of clothes by men can reduce global warming
The Economic Times (India) ^ | May 4, 2013 | by TK Arun

NEW DELHI: Sartorial inequality between the genders is a cause for climate change. When it comes to formal dressing, women tend to cover themselves lightly, if not minimally, while men feel obliged to wear a jacket and a tie, even in the summer warmth of tropical India. When they share the same air-conditioned room, another sort of gender inequality ensures the temperature is kept at a level that makes suited men comfortable, even if it leaves the fairer sex covered with goosebumps.

If the men were to shed a few layers of clothing, the room temperature could be raised by at least 3 degrees centigrade. The power saved on airconditioning across millions of sq ft of built-up space would be a lot. Power saved is carbon-dioxide emissions averted.

Hah. India does come up with some good ones. They are a macabre society. Weird doesn't begin to describe them.

Not surprising with a culture that has some 300 million deities--humans, animals, objects and all combinations thereof.

My husband was SURE that SOMEwhere in India SOMEone was worshipping a '56 Chevy. :o)

The story makes a good point, even if the globull warming reasoning is pure BS.

If men dressed like modern American women, we’d wear sleeveless shirts, sandals, and short pants with a cutout for a form-fitting (but often padded) lycra/silk codpiece. It would lower the A/C bill quite a bit for businesses.

It is a myth that clothes that cover the body make one so much hotter. Baseball players (except for the White Sox of the 70s and maybe the Astros, have always worn full body gear while engaged in outdoor activity during the day. For decades, wool uniforms were part of the deal.

Men’s wool suits come in summer weights that are very light, and breathe nicely. A white or other light colored suit can reflect the sun. I dare say that a man wearing a white summer weight suit with a Panama hat in Mississippi may actually be more comfortable and cooler than a counter-culture type wearing a black t-shirts, jeabs, and a backwards facing baseball cap.

What global warming?

There was a tremendous snowstorm that covered much of the upper Midwest the other day, the second day of May. May is supposed to be SPRINGTIME, and the snowbanks are all supposed to be gone.

Thermodynamics is just not supporting the repeated warnings about “global warming”. No matter how many times it is reiterated.

“Cold” is just kind the negative of “warm”.

I’m waiting for the advance of glaciers on Atlanta, Georgia.

Bananas in Labrador now seem highly unlikely.

“Justification.”

You have probably saved more carbon-dioxide emission than any man on the planet since you hate to wear pants and don't much/most of the time. And, when you need them after a holiday celebration, you have to climb on the roof to find them. You are special (and weird).
