My guess also. Most cars have the fuel pump in the tank and they produce a fair amount of presure for the injectors. A leak could produce a very combustable mist.

I worked for a company that stretched limos, about 28 years ago. They had new fuel lines and brake lines already made for the proper length of the stretch.

Unless the stretch was done by some backwater outfit, most of the stretches are pretty well professional jobs.
