Both are $500-600 overpriced for what you get. I shot one of the prototypes at the FFLs in Pitt, before I moved, and both my $1200-1400 Kimbers put them to shame. But then, I’ve done some “extra work” on them both.
The SW1911s are cosmetically flashy, but are just marginal out of the box; takes a long while to sight-in and get used to trigger pull and recoil. The long beavertail is awkward concealed. Standard mag isn’t any good; Wilson Combat Officer 8-rnd mags are the only ones to have and use.
At $900-950, they’d be a far better value for SW1911s.
S&W is trying to climb the ladder into Kimber and Wilson Combat territory. Time will tell.
I can out shoot my friends Kimber Pro Carry II with my RIA commander.
The Kimber is sweet, but it actually has more recoil because it is lighter.
What is really of note is that the 1911 is just such a good design.
102 years later we still love them.
