I wouldn’t say missed it so much as wanting to believe something different.
A lot if Republicans are confused, thinking that someone whose temperament and lifestyle are conservative must somehow also be politically conservative. And also confused about the difference between conservative and Constitutional.

And the GOP has rode that horse to great effect overall. Our votes showed the GOP we would moderate. So they did what they wanted with our apparent blessing. They moderated.
