I don’t recall saying I’m from South Carolina, or desirous of being confused for being from SC. I’m just writing about SC. And I certainly understand that Sanford is not held in high regard by any conservative. But I also assume we want to hold the seat. Primary him next time and win.

Well, you sure took a neighborly remark and cleaned my clock with it. Your About page doesn't say where you're living but I knew that when I replied. Wherever it is, I'm sure some others besides you there feel superior to the FReeper conservatives in SC. It's a feeling people tend to cultivate when they're in the midst of others with superior minds. So, where do you hail from?

The part about Sanford not being held in high regard by any S.C. conservatives: You must be only reading the reports in the usual broadcast and print media; your conclusion is incorrect.

By "we want to hold the seat", are you referring to the SCGOPe? Or the National version? I don’t recall saying I’m a Republican. And I'm sure you probably realize by now that you were mistaken: Sanford DID run in a primary and a run-off primary in S.C. District 1, in which I do not happen to live at this time.

Sorry, I don't think I cleaned your clock or was trying to act superior. Nor was that my intention. I was just responding to your linguistic remark with a light hearted jab showing fake offense about speaking like a SC native. If you thought it was unfriendly, then there was a failure in my ability to communicate. Having re-read it, however, I don't feel like I came off as going after you.

I live in a Republican part of Aztlan. Pity me, please, I will be begging for admission to SC or to a state like it in a few years, after the great secession. I hope your immigration standards allow a few outsiders in when that day comes. Texas is too hot.

I am fully aware that Sanford won the primary for this seat. As I recall, there were several opponents that split the vote, making it easier for Sanford to overcome his baggage. I am suggesting that it be done again next time, only next time, let's get rid of him. If he has a strong GOPe constituency that continues to help him, that would help explain how he could overcome his past. I am not as up on SC politics as you, so thanks for that information. If his record is GOPe over the next 18 months, then it will make it even easier to primary him. Better get a good candidate to oppose him, though. Hard to overcome a well-known name. Of course, if he loses today, it is all moot.

I haven't been a Republican for a long time, just a conservative. Welcome to the non-party. When I use the word "we" I am referring to conservatives such as you and I. I would still prefer to keep the seat in Republican hands rather than give an inroad to a Dem in a conservative state. Indiana and Missouri have done enough of that lately, we don't need another one. And please, whatever you do, concentrate your efforts on getting rid of Miss Lindsey, if you could.

Wish I could help on that, but I caint.
