Rick Perry: Texas "Right Place" For Obama To Tout Economic Growth

AUSTIN, Texas, May 9 (UPI) -- Republican Gov. Rick Perry said through a spokeswoman Texas was "the right place" for President Barack Obama to visit Thursday to tout economic growth.

Overall fan of Perry, but don't agree with this pronouncement. The Texan economy is doing well in because of the fact it is not following the White House agenda: Lower taxes, energy industry, empowering business instead of over-regulating it. Maybe Perry has to say it. Probably better to say nothing.

I think his statement (issued through a representative) was more along the lines of rubbing Obama's nose in the success of Texas' relatively free economy:

Texas' success didn't happen by accident," Nashed said. "It's a result of policies put in place under Governor Perry's leadership with a laser focus on making Texas a beacon of economic freedom."

I hope Perry doesn’t think Obama is going to come to Texas and praise Texas OR him. Quite the opposite will prove to be the case.

I am wondering if Perry was being a bit sarcastic with his statement. As if he meant “well, if you want to see what works then Texas is the place to be because what you’re doing (Cool Preezy) isn’t working” or something like that
