What planet are you living on?
Wait till Obama’s Death Panels start culling out conservatives. Need a heart to live? Too bad. Need a liver to live? Too bad. Need a blood transfusion? Too bad.
If the IRS can target conservatives, what makes you think Obama’s Death Panels won’t. It’s coming.

You are arguing with a guy that thinks trust is not a factor in national elections. He could believe anything.

So you’ll trade dead babies for the Abortion votes I take it? Winning is everything has a meaning. It means you have no limit to what you do to win. So yes or no...you good with trading kids lives for the win?

Don’t be surprised when you fill out your Obamacare form, there is a “party affiliation” question.

Lets see if he stays consistent. Because you can’t have ‘winning is everything’ as a philosophy and be against sacrificing kids to do it. Logic forbids that outcome ;)

The Dems have the best groundgame..they work through the unions, the churches, and the neighborhoods...they start as soon as the election is over and keep it up week after week, month after month..continuously contacting their people!

the Republicans begin about 6 mos out from the election with their ground game.

Basically ~ but much of that has to do with the differences in the way the two parties are structured. The Republicans are sometimes thought of as Presidential Republicans, and Congressional republicans. In there somewhere you find the state parties and depending on what's at stake they may pop up anywhere.

The basic idea is that there are two parallel party structures actually populated by different agencies and personalities ~or, two basic factions. The Presidential Wing has its own donor base, and the RNC itself focuses on that race. The Congressional Wing has its donor base, and it works through the House Committee or the Senate Committee. State parties might be fired up if they get a Senate race ~ and less so if there's none of that going on.

We also use the terms Country Club Republicans ~ and these are usually professionals, or business owners, who devote some degree of their time to the question of providing volunteers to man phone banks, rent space for campaign headquarters, etc.

In that mix we find the Young Republicans organization. That's always been a source of manpower for party campaigns of all kinds.

The really big difference between the Presidential and Congressional wings was brought about with the advent of television ~ the Presidential wing makes use of nationwide TV time buys, and puts a lot of work into creating the image of the candidate ~ hence the use of a phony campaign convention!

The state and district organizations do the long term organization work ~ which includes finding donors, and finding new voters. For the most part these organizations have been dominated by Baby Boomers for the last 25 years or so. That's a totally separate issue from what the Country Coubbers have been doing of course, but the ownership class and professional class hasn't been locked in a generational bulge either.

Once the Boomer cohort first hit the age of 60, their numbers have declined quite rapidly ~ this is due to health and death!

The Democrats are about 4 years behind the Republicans on this effect since, after all, they have shorter lifespans so by now the Boomer bulge has not dominated their internal structures as much as it has the Republicans. Then, too, with a heavy representation among union members, the Democrat party's working structure is YOUNGER than that of the Republicans. That has value in running campaigns and getting out the vote.

There are a number of other elements to this I haven't bothered discussing over the last 3 years due to serious vision problems, so I might have missed some, but both parties are operated differently. The Democrats are more bottom up than the Republicans. On the other hand, the Republicans in charge tend to have more management experience than their Democrat counterparts. This probably explains the mysterious attraction Democrat party operations have had for some pretty traditional business types in recent years ~ there's a vacuum, and folks who'd be second stringers among Republicans can be first stringers among Democrats.

Neither party has changed its manner of operation for the last 147 years ~ because both ways work.

The big problem we have is the Baby Boom Generation. They're dying off. We lost 4 million voters over the last year due simply to the ravages of old age among just that group! The Democrats in charge of voter registration leading up to Obama's win in 2008 actually mentioned the sheer difficulty of finding more Democrat voters to register!

I'm sure Republicans don't understand what they were saying, but the Democrats look for DEMOCRAT VOTERS among those not now voting. They are not at all interested in voter registration just to get more people voting. They've always wanted more Democrat Voters ~ that was Thomas Jefferson's contribution ~ get voters lined up who will vote for you before you worry too much about candidates. That you can't win without voters. The yellow dog Democrat was always the core of that party, and it still is.

The Republicans got caught with their demographic depends down around their ankles ever since Bush' second run! The Boomers are dying and nobody is hunting up new voters ~ you can't wait for election day to do that either!

Norm, you've forgotten so many things. The only reason I"m not hunting abortionists and their enablers down like animals is that they still have control of the big guns.

Just totally privatize the business and take away their police protection and they're out of business in a few minutes.

“What has Obama got on Boehner, is my question.
What did he have on Roberts?”

In this era of Chicago politics, they don’t really need to ‘have’ anything on anyone. Just the tried and true thug tactics of threatning harm to their loved ones, and the younger the better.

So I guess consistency isn’t your strong suit. And winning isn’t everything.
