Politicians everywhere live the good life. But the elderly Peres comes off better by comparison in this case.

Austerity is for the taxpayers.

Quite sure that’s a typo. I’m sure the code that handles passengers doesn’t even allow field spaces of 6 (159,000)
per line item.

You really think a Jewish accountant is gonna pay this invoice?

Give me a break... you gotta be kidding me, while Obama spends multiple millions on golf outings, vacations, date night trips to NYC, or wherever the hell else he wants to go... sputtering spittle!!

So you’re the least of a country, flying someone to have an important meeting with important people on subjects which could mean the fortunes and lives of your country.

Off to coach class for you, haul your own bag and forget about security!

Israel, or nowhere really in the middle east has cow herds providing milk. Like we don’t have affordable dates and figs.

Every country has relative luxuries they have to import.

Rush could have hooked him up with a Sleep Number bed for a fraction of that.

I’ll bet Nanzi Pelousi spends more than that on
ice cream on her own air travel.

Besides, it’s ice cream, not cigars or weed.

I think it’s the austerity. And the ice cream. Israeli taxpayers are no different than the rest of us when see our leaders living the rich life.

flew to London for Margaret Thatcher’s funeral on a specially outfitted El Al plane that cost the tax payers an extra 500,000 shekels, or $139,000, more than a standard plane

- - - - -

It was the extra on the entire plane rental, not a pair of passengers.

One can’t deny that Netanyahu bravely and effectively served his nation as a young man in the military.

Meanwhile, despite recommendations starting in 2009 from the Shin Bet, the Finance Ministry, the Transportation Ministry and an independent consulting firm hired by the PMO for Netanyahu’s office to buy him a private plane and save millions annually, Israel still doesn’t have its equivalent of Air Force One. Slow news or not, there’s always room for another positive story. And that positive news is that Shimon Peres takes austerity to heart.
