I’ve worked with a lot of black people in my profession. With the exception of one woman, every single one of them who was “at least as good at their job as everyone else” was raised outside the US.
IOW, it is not “us”. It is “them”. And the most guilty in this mess are the likes of Jesse and Al.
Yeah. You need to get over it, and many have.
My final assignment in the Air Force was as commander of an engineering unit. About a third of my engineers and technicians were Blacks. They all were "as good as anyone else," and they were all native-born Americans. However, they'd been through a filter: four years of college for the engineers, or technician school (equivalent of community college) for the technicians. I realized I was getting the right tail of the Bell Curve, but that was true of my White engineers & technicians as well. None of my people were "average."
