'In May 1943, an audacious raid by the RAF's 617 squadron destroyed the industrial heart of Nazi Germany. Twelve years later, it was immortalised on film.
Now, never-before-seen photographs from the set of classic movie The Dam Busters have emerged ahead of the 70th anniversary, on Thursday, of the legendary World War II mission.
The backstage images give a new insight into how the famous attack on the Ruhr dams was recreated for the 1955 film.'

Thank you! This is a favorite film of mine. (I have an earlier version without the dog’s name bleeped out)...

I would think “The Dambusters” are, or should be celebrated in Great Britain as we celebrate Doolittle's Tokyo Raiders.
I saw the movie, “The Dambusters” as a teenager and can to this day remember much of it. Especially those bombs bouncing in to the dam.
I am in awe of the special effects in movies from the 50s and 60s. All done without computers. Just miniatures and imagination.
The Dambusters and The Caine Mutiny are two pretty good examples.

And don't forget the scenes from "633 Squadron" about the raid on the heavy water plant in the fjord.
It's been said that the scenes of the attack on the Death Star in the original Star Wars was almost, scene for scene, an update of the attack in "633 Squadron". It is remarkably similar to say the least.

Yeah...and Obama doing the same to America...
Destroy manufacturing capacity.
stop oil drilling
phase out coal electrical generating capacity
terrorizes the population (IRS/Obamacare)

(I have an earlier version without the dogs name bleeped out)... I was amazed when your version was broadcast recently on one of the old movie TV channels. Apparently the political correctness censors were asleep at the switch.

I also watched the unbleeped version on Netflix a couple of months ago.

I just have to ask. What was the dog’s name that was so offensive it was bleeped?

I recall playing an old Commodore 64 computer game based on these bombing raids. Very clever idea, using spotlights to gauge the correct bomb release altitude.

Thanks for this Dambusters post. There are several articles on the Daily Mail website about the 70th anniversary to include a video of the only flying Lancaster making a run on the Derwent Dam which the real Dambusters flew their practise mission (less dropping bombs) on. and includes a fly over of the current 617 Squadron in their Panavia Tornadoes

One of my favorites as well. I adored Richard Todd too. He recently passed away at the age of 90.

Yet, everything Obama is doing is legal: he did not even have to declare war.
