A Honduran woman with legal immigrant status was sentenced to two years probation Friday in Baton Rouge federal court after admitting that she illegally transported minivan loads of undocumented immigrants from Houston to Miami.
Eight months of her probation must be served at a halfway house.
Sonia Lisseth Suazo, 39, of Houston, could have been sentenced to as many as 14 months in prison under federal guidelines. But she begged Chief U.S. District Judge Brian A. Jackson for leniency.
“I don’t want to leave my daughters alone by themselves,” Suazo said through a Spanish interpreter. “They need me, as does my mother.”
Suazo admitted she was driving seven illegal immigrants to Miami after her 2002 Honda Odyssey was stopped June 2 on Interstate 10 by a West Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputy. Her admission was reported in an affidavit by Special Agent Richard V. Lovell, of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Seriously, if we actually enforced existing law, the problem would be cut by 90 percent in a year. For example, if everyone who transported an illegal alien was prosecuted and their vehicle was subject to forfeiture, that would be be a big deterrent. If the vehicles used by illegals and their homes and other assets were subject to forfeiture, that would be a deterrent. If employers went to jail for hiring them, that would be a deterrent to hiring them. If it was a felony crime to receive public services while being in the country illegally, and if people were put in jail for it, that would send 'em packing.
Marco Rubio needs to just go ahead and join the Dems right now, because he has lost all credibility as a national candidate. He's just another progressive, and the speed with which Washington changed him is alarming. Toomey has also been disappointing. Thank God for Ted Cruz.

Laws? Haven't you heard? During last year;s campaign this nation's first "Third World President" declared that the entire world is entitled to US citizenship.

These people are not "undocumented immigrants - they are ILLEGAL ALIENS. Calling them undocumented immigrants is like calling shoplifting an "undocumented purchase."
