During a commencement address at Bowie State University on Friday, first lady Michelle Obama urged the graduates of the historically black university to "please stand up and reject the slander that says a black child with a book is trying to act white," instructing them to "be an example of excellence for the next generation."

And that goes double for the politicians who claim they help ‘the community’ but obstruct small business growth, investment, and personal reward.

Graduation is not the time to apply the “politics of envy.”
It is rebellion. Rebellion against acting like Americans. Black do not see Americans they see white, black, mexican etc... They will never get over the slavery issue as long as race baiters and entitlements are in place. I have a news flash for them in the history of the world there have been more non-black slaves than black. Besides you want to blame someone blame the black that actually kidnapped and sold their own people.
This all came about trying to act different than “whitey” so as not to look like they celebrate Americanism. They (and I am not meaning absolutism here) celebrate the opposite.

Michele reminds of a comment made by sports commentator about Jimmy Taylor, the Green Bay fullback. This commentator opined that Jimmy Taylor went to college for fours untouched by education.

We are saying the same thing I’m just defining it as cultural. They have inculcated those anti-American beliefs you mention into their culture.

They already have no excuse in the eyes of the many Haitians and Africans that have moved into the NYC metro area; they have nothing but contempt for (and physical fear of) American blacks.

I live around a lot of Hispanics, and while some of the men from the Caribbean don’t place a high priority on education they all work. Newer immigrants from South America see college as necessary to succeed.
Why on earth did it take those two 4 years to speak to the black community about what the black community needs to hear but the picked the WRONG part of the black community to speak to?
She and her husband both have been preaching to the rest of the country ignoring the problems in the black population and in the past week both speak to blacks who by all appearances already know what they need to do to succeed.
Are they afraid to appear in front of the ghetto trash and talk to them like Bill Cosby did? Tell them to know off the gangster talk, the crimes, the drugs, the drive-by killings? In short “give up being stupid” if they expect to get anywhere.
Remind them they are free to “pursue happiness” but it takes work to achieve it. W O R K!

She’s making stuff up to draw attention to herself.
