Authorities say an elementary school in an Oklahoma City suburb took a direct hit from a mile-wide tornado.
Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department says there is no word of injuries from the elementary school. Knight says the school suffered "extensive damage" on Monday afternoon. He did not say which school was hit.

The headline I see at the link is:
LIVE WIRE: Death toll in Moore tornado could soon reach 91
I don’t doubt the total could reach 91 and even more, but the article’s headline is different from the headline posted in this thread.
Did they change it after you posted?
Prayers up for my native state.
agree
Plaza Tower School was destroyed, and is where the multiple children/teacher fatalities occurred; Briarwood School was also destroyed but children escaped w/ minor injuries.
One of the longest tracks on that map appears to have crossed the entire state of Mississippi.
Flat country, yes, but also a staging platform for the meeting of warm air coming from the Gulf and cool air coming from Canada.
Not an expert, by any means, but it is my understanding that the vortex forms when a mass of the cold, thus “heavier”, air aloft moves in over a mass of warm air near the ground.
Gotta' be first on the scene and first to deliver the "news". Unfortunately, in the race to be first they are often wrong.
Read an article which said Huntsville, AL is number 1 in tornado hits. I have lived through 3 F5s. They are no fun whatsoever. One thing the higher ups do is to close all schools if there is even a hint of a storm. They do the same if there is snow/ice in the forecast. People may complain but I am all for that. After this, I imagine there will be fewer complaints. People have not recovered from the one 2 years ago.
You are not alone in this, buddy.
With you all the way.
Well, if you look at the yellow X here... where I am located in Corsicana--
Don’t get dented, Bender, or we’ll have to hammer them out.
Would that count as getting hammered?
Stay safe, brother.
If you ever hear of a guy being found wrapped around a toilet, that will probably be me. The media will ponder how someone can get so tightly wrapped around a toilet, but let me tell ya, I would have been holding on for dear life.
Well, my Yellow X is about... to get real wet.
But I feel safe as Xev... is going to protect me for some consideration to be named at a later date--
BTW I think I can see your Green X in Plano... even through the rain--
