Signs of waning evangelical power in the nation’s culture wars and in Republican policy — and some unexpected challenges for GOP candidates — loom as the 103-year-old Boy Scouts of America gears up for a definitive vote this week on whether to welcome openly gay youths into the organization’s ranks.
If the BSA delegates gathering just outside Dallas vote to admit gays, it will reinforce the growing notion that evangelical Protestants and their conservative Catholic allies no longer can muster their troops as they once did, in such battles as state referendums over same-sex marriage and the 1996 enactment of the federal Defense of Marriage Act.
“There’s no lobby more vicious than the homosexual lobby, and the 65 to 80 million-member evangelical constituency provides no troops for the fight against that lobby,” said David Lane, president of Pastors & Pews and a leading religious right political organizer. “Evangelicals are playing checkers in a chess game.”
A prominent Mormon and board member of a national conservative political organization said privately said that his church, bruised from public relations battles with gay-rights activist groups, has been left holding the financial bag after other denominations failed to come through with promised aid in the fight for Proposition 8, California’s voter initiative against same-sex marriage. The Mormon church has moved on to other battles in the cultural wars rather than take on the gay-rights activists.
After floating a plan to end the 3.9 million-member group’s ban on gays, BSA leaders have crafted a compromise that would allow openly gay Scouts to participate but maintain the ban on adult gay Scout leaders. Even that move sparked adamant opposition from some Christian leaders, especially those who ally with the Republican Party.

Aside from right/wrong ... on a purely practical note ... I’m really surprised the Boy Scouts are considering this. The first time some 14-year-old gets raped by an older or bigger openly gay Boy Scout, the organization will have to pay out millions for creating an unsafe environment.

I think even the BSA may underestimate how many will leave if they vote for this, and frankly, just because they are even considering voting for it, I am less than enthusiastic about getting my grandson involved.

If they vote to admit gay boy scouts the next step is to admit gay scout leaders which is one of two goals (they want access to your young boys to create a new pool of homo converts that they can molest and will be underage at the same time). The other is to dismantle the BSA if they can’t have their way. The Left and Homos cant stand for having an organization that teaches boys to be leaders, to be responsible, and to be masculine. If they admit gay boy scouts it will be their end. 100 % Guaranteed.

What this vote is, is a decision of whether or not to continue scouting.
If they vote to go Homosexual they are done. It’s over.
Unfortunately the Evangelicals have a tough time understanding just how politicized the left is. They seem to think that they can get in bed with the left on some issues and then expect to be left alone on other stuff.
An issue that comes to mind is Global Warming. Evangelicals (rightly) believe that we have to be something like “Stewards of the Earth”, but then they wrongly conclude that the only way to do that is to join Al Gore’s insanity crusade - as if there’s nothing in between.
Then they buy-in to Amnesty as the ONLY OPTION to “take care of those in the shadows”, the stateless ones, and all that crap - just like Jesus was. No other choice here...even if those people do have states which will welcome them back (and Mexico’s economy is doing quite well now, thank you).
They got bought off on the healthcare debate by believing that “we must do something” to meet the scripture requirements of caring for the (poor) sick, and therefore Obamacare was the only option.
Don’t be surprised if they do the same on gay marriage. They will rationalize it away by saying that we have to “Love the Sinner”, and the only way to do that, I guess, is by letting marriage get destroyed by bringing gays in.
Don’t be surprised if they turn on gun control too. They will conclude something like “Love thy Children” cannot be fully achieved with children getting killed with guns - so therefore they’ll sign-in on all gun control efforts.
It seems like the leftists have figured out that if they learn a few versus of scripture, they can get an audience with an evangelical leader and convince him that he must to something, and the only feasible option is to follow the leftist.
This happens because these leaders have NO CLUE of the mindset of the left. If they did, they’d NEVER meet with them in the first place and they’d laugh of their tactics, understanding that they are ultimately designed to destroy them. The Amnesty debate really irks me because I know FULL WELL that once the Dems have full control of government and the courts, they will simply shut down the churches in this country by calling them unregistered political organizations, or something to that effect. But if you don’t understand their ultimate plans, you never consider that, all the while helping them achieve their goals.

That is EXACTLY the point! The Left is pushing this, because they KNOW they can take down the BSA in one fell swoop through an epic lawsuit.
This is how the Left operates. They personalize, isolate, and destroy. They've done it with the Catholic church, and they'll do it to the BSA. It'll be one tween who gets fondled in a tent on an overnight, and they'll call for anyone who's ever been abused to come out and a mountain of "kids," regardless as to whether or not they were ever actually Scouts, will come out and point fingers. BSA will be sued into oblivion, and the complete dismantling of the American male will be complete. Replaced by a kinder, gentler, better dressed faggot variety who would likely cry at the very mention of a handgun or a hangnail.

I would never accede to my grandkids joining the BSA. They can have my 1965 version of the Boy Scout Handbook to see the America they might have shared, but is gone forever.
God help them, and us....
