WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups.

Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd.

Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

DOCUMENT: The Inspector General’s report on the IRS

“She has not committed any crime or made any misrepresentation but under the circumstances she has no choice but to take this course,” said a letter by Taylor to committee Chairman Darrell E. Issa, R-Calif. The letter, sent Monday, was obtained Tuesday by the Los Angeles Times.

“We The People will simply put up with one more grotesque violation.”

No, YOU will put up with one more grotesque violation. Here in South Carolina, 20 of Holder’s thugs are locked in jail, facing up to 20 years in state prison.

I suggest that instead of you bitching and whining, that you get off your fat ass and insist that your state move against the criminal fascist syndicate occupying Washington.

I’m getting real tired of you defeatists spreading manure.

Perception is reality and right or wrong... it will look like she is guilty... which she is.

It is her Constitutional Right to avoid self-incrimination but also our right to demand that a high-level employee of the Executive Branch who interferes with Congressional Oversight, which is also Constitutional, be terminated from Federal Service.

I agree that is too early for that. However, if someone high in government really authorized this (i.e. someone in the White House), you can bet it was done verbally for plausible deniability. Same would be the case for any cover up. So, it would have to be a big fish to catch another big fish. Maybe the case can be developed without giving immunity, but it may come down to that.

Wow. That is quite a story.

A friend of mine once had an attorney (a politically active Democrat) offer him a large discount on a boat in return for modifying a deposition my friend had given.

My friend asked him to put the deal in writing. The attorney's face turned bright red and he walked away.

Yes, the attorney was/is a big financial supporter of Obama.

Issa should subpoena that bat-faced, Iranian biotch just to make her dodge/refuse it for the record! Citizens should be screaming for her head. She is behind all of this garbage!

“Not going to happen. Obama would invoke Executive Privilege and he would get away with it.”

Oh, I know that she will never appear, but I want her name in the “news” as much as possible. Make her refuse the subpoena. Make her uncomfortable. Get her name out there for the LIVs. Ask Carney what her role is in all of these scandals. Ask Carney if she is the “real” POTUS. Ask Carney about her “Payback time” quote. Piss her off. Her arrogance will cause her to screw up.

A hate crime? Geez, how ridiculous.

That’s how they’ll set us up if Obama’s Gestapo is allowed to continue their reign of terror. They’ll create false charges, based on what they ‘say’ we are thinking (very Big Brother of them!).

I ordered 1984 and Animal Farm last night. I searched all our used bookstores for copies yesterday - and the neat thing is one store said they had a lot of copies but they’d all sold recently. We ARE at 1984; Orwell was just off 20 years or so.

My sign at the Tea Party IRS protest simply said ‘1984’. The organizer of the event said that was his favorite sign of the day. And there was a lot of fancy ones that people put a lot of thought and hard work into. But we were talking about how very few of our youth would even get the reference.

People lawyer up and shut up when a special prosecutor is named. Best for Congress to investigate this fastly and furiously.

Republicans can use this if they're sharp.

Oh, OK then. We're good.
