Another country commits suicide.
Immigration policy should be designed to admit people who want to be Swiss and who have something to offer the Swiss nation. It should actively filter out people who don’t want to be Swiss, aren’t likely to assimilate, and have nothing to offer.
Deporting people back to their home country shouldn’t be seen as extreme; it should be policy to protect your own citizens first and foremost. If the Swiss don’t defend their homeland, no one else is going to do it.
Nothing makes sense anymore
There are a billion potential "asylum seekers" from North Africa and the Middle East. What is makes their home country unbearable is precisely what they are bringing with them if you let them in.
an immigrant group based in Bern called for the emblematic white cross to be removed from the Swiss national flag because as a Christian symbol it "no longer corresponds to today's multicultural Switzerland."
There is a reason Switzerland is the way it is, and North Africa is the way it is. Remove the cross and Switzerland becomes Bosnia within a generation.
No, I am not kidding.
God bless the Swiss people for trying to push back against this, but it's such a small country that the demographics there are liable to change very rapidly.
As someone with Swiss ancestry, I find this beyond depressing. Time to take my K31 to the range this weekend, I think. I just feel the need to shoot something.
An armed society consisting of anyone with an IQ above 80, a lick of common sense, decency and a desire to be free is what is needed. Morons and fundamentalists must be held at bay.
My family migrated to the US from Switzerland. (great grandparents) We still have kin there. The “go along and get along” attitude the Swiss have always had won’t work with the damn muzzies.
I remember reading that they, the Swiss, have allowed for a separate congress and courts system for Islam which is the model to be implemented across Europe. Nobodies fault but their own.
We're doomed.
“I thought this was a gun owners paradise ?! Nothing makes sense anymore.”
Not really a gun owner’s paradise. They still have a European attitude that guns are NOT for self defense. They are for national defense, and they can be kept safely locked away at home (and are pretty much required to be in homes), but you better have a REALLY GOOD reason for taking them out - such as National Guard service - because the police can knock (or worse) at ANY TIME and check on their status.
Don’t get me wrong - it’s still MUCH BETTER than not having a gun. If you wind up with another Hitler-type government trying to round you up, you will take it out. But it’s also not like Texas and Florida, where you wouldn’t want to be seen in a supermarket without one.
Had a conversation with a Swiss who told me they were afraid in their own country for the first time in their lifetime.
The religion of peace strikes again.
Our Swiss friend was very involved in getting out the vote for the minaret ban. He is Christian, non-denom, said the Christian pastors were the worst. ‘Let’s invite them in and convert them.’ He said, “NO! Don’t you know history? They want to take over.” They thought he was so mean!! He got tremendous support from the Catholics, however.
This concept/idea of the separation of church and state as we understand it only exists in America. Other countries in Europe like France, which may be secular, but for example we would never take jurisdiction/ownership over religious buildings and then allow their use by legitimate groups. In Germany you must officially step out of the church or whatever religion you belong to in order to avoid the “tithing” from being taken out of your paycheck as a tax.
At least the Swiss are waking up while the US is still sound asleep.
I'd like to see anybody try to tell me I have to take my flags down off my flagpole. Bunker Hill with its Cross of St. George, Confederate Battle Flag or any variation, United Colonies flag (sometimes called the Grand Union Flag, but it's not: the Grand Union Flag was the British flag of that time), or any of them, you name it. Yeah, that would be messy.
