BOSTON A man in Orlando, Fla., who was being interviewed early Wednesday morning by law enforcement officers about his ties to the deceased Boston Marathon bombing suspect was fatally shot after he tried to attack the officers with a knife, according to a federal law enforcement official.
The officers who included an F.B.I. agent from the Boston field office and two Massachusetts state troopers were questioning the man, Ibragim Todashev, about whether he had played a role in a triple murder on Sept. 11, 2011, in Waltham, Mass., which had been one of the biggest mysteries in the aftermath of the bombings.
The officers had been interviewing Mr. Todashev in his apartment for some time when he tried to attack them, the official said.

The cops routinely frisk and handcuff everyone around without even a hint of an arrest.
It is all for their own safety you know. That makes everything they do OK.

Just how in hell did this guy get a knife into a police dept.?Either the cops failed to search him prior to their interview. They should have done that as a matter of self defense.
Second. What happend to the metal detectors in the police HQ?Im sure the entrance to that building is on video 24 hours a day.I cant wait to see it.

Perhaps a better reading of the article would have informed you that the interview was taking place in the now dead guy’s apartment.
Pretty much answers both of your questions.
I think it is standard procedure to frisk EVERYONE before going into a police facility.

The interview was at the dead guy’s apartment, which is pretty clearly stated all the way in paragraph 3 of the linked article.
That is my point, he should have been taken “downtown” for questioning.
It happened "at the Windhover condominium complex near Kirkman Avenue and Vineland Road" about ten miles from Disney World, according to this report. Supposedly, Todashev was about to sign a statement admitting a role, along with Tsarnaev, in the 2011 Waltham murders.
the guy is under no obligation to do so, hence the interview taking place at the apartment.

Thanks for the Info.Still in this case the Police knew they had a potential threat and apparently did nothing to protect themselves prior to interviewing the Perp.
At the same time this guy could have had weapons hidden all over that apartment. They’re luckey that that weren’t killed or Seriously injured.
It looks like these officers need to go back and get retrained.
Don't axe for proof! If you question the won, you a rasiss!
So they should take one for the team?
some things just wouldn’t even it make it into the script of a movie....but not with this group. Have they always been this incompetent?
It was a kid with a knife. Any cop who hasn't taken it upon himself to train in techniques to disarm a person with a knife in close quarters ought not be doing the job.
Now, who you jivin' with that Cosmic Debris?
Given that scenario, they probably did the only thing they could...and were trained to do.
But yes...a complete sweep of the house/apartment he was being questioned in would have been prudent.
