Josephine County needs to elect a new sheriff. He’s still got six deputies and himself. That’s one on call each night.
This is a rural county with 80K people and 67% of the land is owned by the federal government.
The real problem is the Oregon public employees union, it’s sucking the life out of every county budget due to the high overhead on pie in the sky retirement and benefit promises.
Nope, Gil is a great sheriff. You’re right about the public worker’s unions, though. That, and PERS, are draining us dry.
