Car owners whose auto was torched during immigrant rioting aren’t getting sympathy from local officials… They’re getting tickets. The police chose to “wait” and “not to intervene” when the gangs burned cars. But those car owners who could not move their burnt-out wrecks, however, were fined.

Rioting continued for the sixth straight night last night.

Gosh, you know, you never think of those things. In an emergency like that, there isn’t time to call a phone number: is it ok if I am taken to this hospital to treat my injuries from a tornado wiping out my home?

You have to wonder how the bureaucrats live with blinders on. They must not watch much TV or read the papers. They probably tell each other how great things are every day just to form a group concensus.

Bureaucrats seek job security by attacking the very source of their security - the taxpayer.

Wonder if the cars must be ticketed by law before the city can tow them? Several states have laws to protect car owners by giving them notice to remove the car before they impound the car.

Well, yeah, the Common Criminals will Surely Shoot At Them.

The Good Citizenry? They’ll roll over and pay their tickets.

It’s one of the basest instincts-—avoid confronting those who are a legitimate threat to your well-being unless absolutely necessary; prey on those who are intimidated of you-—which is being demonstrated here.

Well, you must admit, they do take up valuable parking spaces, that for all we know generate valuable meter income to be spent for the benefit of the society.

Right, they need the money to pay for welfare for the 'youts' who did the torching.

Anyone who lives in a fairly large city should make plans to move out ASAP.

I don’t think this is a case of the police wanting to add insult to injury. I think it’s procedure.

All police departments have policies and procedures, as does any organization. The police just can’t TOW or HAVE TOWED away somebody’s vehicle without reason or notification.

They are supposed to issue a ticket and then they can have it towed. At least that’s the way it works in the U.S. But I bet that is their policy as well.

Is this a special circumstance? Sure, but no different from a natural catastrophe where abandoned cars need to be towed off.

Here in my own neighborhood, if you park in the street during a snowstorm and they need to plow.... you get a ticket at a minimum. Usually it will be towed. Occasionally, if you are very lucky, it won’t have major body damage when you get it back.
