The Republican Party has changed so drastically in recent years, the current GOP wouldn’t welcome the likes of Ronald Reagan, former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole Former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole(R) said Sunday.

The current GOP ought to be “closed for repairs” because it lacks a vision and is unable to strike deals with Democrats, Dole said during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday”.

The Kansas Republican said he was disturbed by his party’s obstructionist behavior on Capitol Hill. “It seems almost unreal that we can’t get together on a budget or legislation,” he said.

Asked whether he would be welcomed by the Republican Party today, Dole said, “I doubt it.

Idiot. Reagan was vastly to the right of almost everyone in the GOP...many Tea Party included.

Additionally, where are the calls for Democrats to compromise? They refuse. What does our side do? Just adopt the same views? That seems to be what these relics are suggesting.

Sheesh. Of all people, Dole should keep his mouth shut when advising anyone on election success. The GOP should make a hard and fast rule. After being a Loser, you should not be heard from again until your obituary.

Not a clue.

These morons would have looked to strike a deal with Lenin as we were all loaded up for prison camps.

Dole is EXACTLY right. It should be closed for repairs, for the demotion, and then removal next election of his ilk.

The GOP cannot strike a deal with the Democrats.

Ha. As if this were the purpose of responsible legislators.

Can’t strike a deal with the Palestinian Authority, either. They simply won’t talk.

North Korea is notorious from taking intransigent positions, until they are offered enough money to avert the possibility of internal revolt.

The liberal & progressive Democrats have no intention of striking any bargains with their inferiors. “My way or the highway” is a meaningless choice when there is no highway available to take.

Dole, McCain and Romney.

Who are Republicans that lost their "turn" to be President, Alex.

There's nothing inherently good about striking deals with Democrats. Establishment Republicans like Dole, who believe that there is no greater virtue than compromising stated principles and betraying their supporters, explain a lot about why the country is in the shape it's in and the GOP is in the shape it's in. And the GOP continues to nominate Dole clones like McCain and Romney, and keeps on losing.

Where are the old time rats lamenting how their once-proud party has gone communist? Who can’t understand how their party became the party of moochers, the party of the feckless “victim” class, the atheists, abortion enthusiasts, union pinky rings, condom-throwers, Boy Scout haters, hand-wringing college professors, Georgetown sluts, Hollywood drunks, and America-hating malcontents?

No. Only Republicans lament how their party has failed to “compromise” with that kind of scum.
