Bob Dole Has Some Nerve
Breitbart.com ^ | 5/27/13 | Kerry Picket

Former Senate Majority Leader and 1996 GOP Presidential nominee Bob Dole excoriated the Republican Party on Fox News Sunday, saying the Party lacked new ideas and engaged in too much obstructionist activity in the upper chamber.

"They ought to put a sign on the National Committee doors that says 'Closed for repairs,' until New Year's Day next year and spend that time going over ideas and positive agendas," he said.

Additionally, Dole remarked that not only was he doubtful he could "make it" in today's Republican Party, but he believes Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon could not make it either in the current GOP, saying, "Reagan couldn't have made it. Certainly, Nixon couldn't have made it, because he had ideas. We might've made it, but I doubt it."

Bob Who? Not to be disrespectful to my elders. . .but this guy made me tired both looking and listening to him. He is what is wrong with the Republican Party and if he ran today who cares if he would lose.

Nixon couldn’t make it today for the same reason it was said that he lost the 1960 television debate. Too much of the electorate focuses on the looks of the candidate and not on the issues.

The thing is that RINOs like Dole talk about how we wouldn’t support Nixon or Reagan today and then cite things like the EPA or “Reagan’s Amnesty” but they don’t mention that neither turned our remotely as intended.

Nixon would have never supported what the EPA became and Reagan’s amnesty never allowed the kind of numbers we’re talking about today.

In 1976 Reagan got rejected by the GOP.

What was Dole’s stance on Reagan’s candidacy in 1976 and 1980?

We are told that the GOP is “out of ideas”.

Outside of Bill Clinton’s third term (as Hillary’s “unelected Co-president”) who do the Democrats have in their roster for the White House? Joe Biden? The return of John Edwards? Another Al Gore candidacy? Little Dick Gehphardt?

Same media doing the same crap. The media portrayed Nixon as a sickly old man when the reality was that he was less than 5 years older than Kennedy and in considerably better health. Bernie Goldberg says that for televised debates they used softer lights on Kennedy but put much harsher lighting on Nixon and put it much closer so it would cast shadows in his eye sockets.

October 26, 1996? Wasn’t that a little late for Dole to be asking voters to be doing that? He was barely striking blows against Clinton during that election and he tried to sound like Mr. tough guy by October of 1996. Too late IMHO.

Where are the old time rats lamenting how their once-proud party has gone communist; who can’t understand how their party became the party of moochers, the party of the feckless “victim” class, the atheists, abortion enthusiasts, union pinky rings, condom-throwers, Boy Scout haters, hand-wringing college professors, Georgetown sluts, Hollywood drunks, and America-hating malcontents?

No. Only “Republicans” like Dole lament how their party has failed to “compromise” with that kind of scum.

The tax collector for the welfare state and a losing candidate on two national tickets. Yeah, take that guy’s advice.

one of Nixon’s ideas is one of the biggest job killers in American history, the EPA.

The EPA was not a bad idea. The people we elected to represent us were the bad ideas.

A useful tool in the wrong hands can be very dangerous.
It is a sad situation when the government can't be trusted with the tools to do their job because they will misuse them.

Never ever take advice from the man that was soundly defeated running against an impeached dim president who was caught having oral sex in the oval office and committed perjury under oath and was disbarred for 5 years and lost his right to practice in front of the SCOTUS. Oh and made a 1 million dollar settlement of a court case involving Paula Jones and a rape charge.

dole was a war hero but he was always a progressive big government liberal and he has grown more so with advanced age. This is not the first time that old bob here has pulled this hat trick... this is just his latest spewer of this bilge.

The most exciting event of bob's run against clinton was when he tumbled off the stage.

Dole was on this weekend because it’s Memorial Day and he’s a very visible vet who did suffer because of his military service. He continues to greet WWII vets who are brought into DC to see the WWII Memorial. He wasn’t trotted out to defend (or attack) the GOP. But he is old and seemingly going senile, so I do hope he’s not brought back any too soon.

Good point.

I just find it scary that he could have used this same exact quote today that he said in 1996 and it would apply to today:

''Can you imagine former President Bush doing one of those things? No! And you never imagine Bob Dole doing one of those things either. So where's the outrage? Where's the outrage?"

Bob Dole is nothing more than an old political hack who thinks he is the second coming. He did his share to bring down the country. Suggest he stay home rocking the chair on the porch, as he makes an asshole of himself when he seeks the limelight.

Not going to be critical of Bob on Memorial Day.

Probably should not even bother the old man at all.
