The Department of Transitional Assistance paid out more than $2 million in benefits to 1,164 people who were dead, according to a scathing new audit calling on the embattled agency to tighten up its fraud investigations.
The report, released this afternoon by state Auditor Suzanne Bump’s office, also showed where DTA failed to use technology that could have identified $15 million in questionable benefits and shelled out a $1 million more to those using fake Social Security numbers.
The audits follows a damning report released earlier this year by the Inspector General’s Office, which found $25 million in EBT money went to recipients who may not have been eligible.

And that is just the ones they found.
Were these accounts just growing or were there people taking money out as it went in? There would lie the fraud.
It's been proven that during the 80's Governor Mike Dukais (remember him?) ordered the state welfare department to issue phony social security numbers to wetbacks so that they could get welfare here.He knew that it was the right thing to do,don't ya know!
AND thats just the stuff they reluctantly KNOW about..
What about all the stuff they DON’T WANT to know about?..
The federal givernment needs to be gutted like a fish..
and fileted removing all the skin and bones..
then inspected for the taste of liberal tendencies..
right after ALL GIVERNMENT UNIONS are outlawed..

Howie Carr calls it the Department of Terrorist Assistance, since the Boston bombers had EBT cards & other ‘free’ goodies. He even had a T-shirt made up with what looks like the real logo, but in place of Transitional it says ‘Terrorist’.

I know this wasn’t done, but when they identified the fraudulent accounts, they should have put a trace on them to identify who was cashing them, and arrest them for fraud.
This sounds a lot like the IRS situation. No arrests, but promises that the situation will be changed so that it doesn’t happen again...
How much did they give those people BEFORE sequester?
And BEFORE Obama weeded out all the “fraud and abuse” to pay for Obamacare.

I am willing to bet that they all voted for Obama too, early and often.
I think this is great news because next month we will have additional funding that we didn’t have last month. That is why audits are so good.
Yeah, along with a couple of million that are acting “dead” in terms of their work ethic.
I’m not sure that it’s any worse for a dead man to be getting a welfare check than it is a lazy man, for each contributes the same to society.
In fact, the dead man might be seen as less of a burden than the living.
