U.S. Sen. Harry Reid said Tuesday he was surprised he wasnt called to testify in the trial of former lobbyist and real estate mogul Harvey Whittemore, who is accused of illegally funneling $133,000 in contributions to Reids 2010 campaign.
If Id been asked I wouldve been happy to come, Reid said in an interview taped for the television program, "To the Point." Do you think I shouldve volunteered?
Whittemore is accused of reimbursing his employees for campaign contributions they made to Reids campaign in 2007, a violation of federal campaign finance law.
The jury began deliberating a verdict this afternoon.
Reid said he and his staff were interviewed about the case, but he personally was not asked to testify.
I appreciate the Whittemore family, Reid said. Over the years, they have helped me and I appreciate it very, very much. Im sorry this problem has arisen.

Imagine if Harry Reid’s bagman began to tell all.
....Slimey Harry might also fit
Reid says he’s ‘sorry’ ... stop right there.
The democrat who just announced for Governor of Michigan today has the distinction of paying the largest fine ever paid in Michigan for campaign finance violations.
His only other claim to fame is one term in congress and voting for Obamacare.
Hairy is still sorry.....
He’d be reminded that Frank Pentangeli’s character was probably based on a real person.
Wink wink...
One of the true leaders of the Gimmie-crat Party.
The Family be well taken care of.
Harvey needs to look at it this way, at least he helped make life miserable for Americans for six more years. Hopefully, Stinky Harry won’t be able to find him a good judge and Harvey will get the chance to sit around smiling his ass off in a jail cell for a while.
No doubt in my mind that slime ball Reid knew exactly what his friend was doing. They just got away with it in the past.
They are clueless.
