A twisted story out of Maine, where police say one man's plan to play the hero ended with the death of a 15-year-old girl. Kyle Dube, 20, allegedly planned to kidnap a teen, who he would then "find." Police say he set up a fake Facebook account under the name Bryan Butterfield and used it to convince Nichole Cable to meet him on the evening of May 12 at the end of her street. A ski mask-clad Dube grabbed her, secured her with duct tape, and hid her in his dad's truck, according to a police affidavit; Cable was reportedly dead when he removed her.
Cable's mother reported her missing the next day and her body was found May 20 after a massive search, reports the Portland Press Herald. Dube was traced to her through the fake Facebook account and its corresponding IP address; the affidavit notes that Cable also told a friend she planned to meet Butterfield. As for the kidnap-rescue plan, Dube's brother told police what Dube had allegedly told him: that his plan was to rescue her so he would be lauded as a hero, but when he went to remove her from the truck she was dead so he left her body in the woods. Dube apparently also told his girlfriend what happened, along with the detail that he threw her clothes out the car's window; police recovered a sock bearing both Dube and Cable's DNA during their search. No word yet on Cable's cause of death; Dube has been indicted on charges of kidnapping and murder.

My definition of “hero” doesn’t including kidnapping and binding a teenage girl, first.
Nude girl, DNA of both on a sock.....
The entire story is a huge lie to cover up a sexual attack.
Yeah. When the autopsy report comes back - more will be made known.
can’t fix stupid. off him.
Interesting comment on society when the perp’s stated defense is: “I planned it all as a big act and a joke.”
And the media repeats it.
Some guys will do anything to be famous.
I don’t normally comment on appearances in pictures, but that face is begging to be punched.
He looks quite confident, but what kind of moron doesn’t know you can be traced by your computer’s IP address?
Current crime says is occurred in May 2013. Photo says it was made in June 2012. So what had the rapist/killer done to get a free photo at Penobscot County Jail a year prior? There seems to be a national problem with predators being released. Maybe they’ll let him out again — Poor girl’s family needs a chance to wipe that face off the hero’s smirk with a pickaxe, then get ahold of whoever let him out.
I read about this in the local newspaper. People are angry (understandably).
This is small town Maine. This guy is likely safer in jail. If he makes the mistake of getting / making bail, he'll be very likely to have a short lifespan.
I'd not lose too much sleep over it.
yep.....his story is as plausible as the faker in the Blight House...
I agree with you. Liar.
