Yes, they are. They are anti-semitic (their leader denies the Holocaust), racist (they hate blacks and all non-whites, even those who serve in the UK armed forces), want an all-white Britain and are anti-Catholic. They have links to more extreme white race groups and neo-nazis such as Combat 18. They come from the 70’s groups like the National Front, and many of the footsoldiers are involved in violence and soccer hooliganism.

I’m afraid racism DOES define the BNP, in a way even the EDL dosent. I have criticised the EDL, dont support them, will continue to criticise them and dont apologise for it, but the BNP are racist and antisemitic on a scale far surpassing the EDL.
I have seen what the BNP is since the early days (I am old enough a Brit to remember the NF in the 70’s), they ARE an openly racist and antisemitic party. Much as I criticise the EDL, they at least try to make a face of being an open party.

Would the BNP have a reason to exist but for the multiculturalists flooding the UK with Third World immigration. Multicultists argue that diversity lessens raciaist feelings, yet all evidence supports the opposite — when people of different races and cutures are crammed together tensions among those groups increases, not decreases. The BNP woud not have a reason to have “racist” sentiments toward people living a half world away that they have no contact with, but when those groups are imported into their neighborhoods in droves it’s natural that tensions would arise.
As usual, the Left creates the problem and then complains about other’s reactions to the mess they made. Rather than address the legitimate concerns of others they label them “Islamophobic” or “racist”. Addressing legitimate concerns early could have helped prevent a hardening of resentment toward the government and the legions of foreigners they’ve imported.

The original non white immigration to the UK started in 1948 with the black Caribbean community, the Windrush generation. In the 50’s and 60’s, it was those from South Asia (Indians, Pakistanis). In 1972 Ugandan Asians expelled by Idi Amin.
None of these groups caused any problem. Only in the 80’s did we see black riots and criminality and the start of problems with extreme Islam.
Yet from 1948, the non white immigrants put up with racism (not anywhere near the US scale but unpleasant enough). The forefathers of the BNP, like the NF, werent concerned patriots, they were simply racists and bigots who didnt like a nonwhite face. Today we see not all but many BNP
and EDL members do Nazi salutes. And the NF in the 60’s and 70’s had many members inc its ‘heid chief’ John Tyndall, who were admirers of Hitler and the Nazis. I have already alluded to the open and violent anti-semitism in the NF and still today in the BNP and some elements of the EDL.
There is much more than mere patriotism at work here.
I get the point you are making, in retrospect the immigration to the UK could and should have been much smaller and much more controlled and that may be an argument now for action, but the older immigrants simply came here to work, didnt cause trouble and in fact were the recepients of violence and hatred. They didnt do anything to provoke racists like the NF other than by their very existence.
