The White House will not be pushing for a special prosecutor to handle the IRS scandal involving the targeting of conservative groups, even as three-fourths of Americans are calling for one.

I think the intent of the FOX News and AP phone record subpoenas was not to find evidence but to identify people in government who were acting as confidential sources to the news media.

In the James Rosen case, Obama was obsessed with FOX News and who in the White House might be talking to FOX reporters.

The AP case is a charade. The White House knew who was leaking classified information because the leaker was the White House. If you go back a year descriptions of secret national security programs were being leaked to the New York Times. The information was so detailed and privileged that the news media—jealous of the Times’ scoops—speculated that it had to come from the National Security Council, which is part of the White House. And people were saying it was leaked to promote Obama as a covert warrior.

Republicans in Congress began an investigation. To stop them Obama ordered Holder to investigate. This was surreal because there were maybe a couple of dozen people with full knowledge of these projects. And Obama knew who leaked because he sanctioned it.

The DOJ has run two separate probes for the last year. More than 500 people have been interviewed and who knows how many documents they've collected. This is all a charade
but Holder, with some compliant court officials, uses it as a vehicle of political espionage.

This is the “Chicago Way.”
