WE NEED YOU!

Lawmakers will be in Springfield one more day before they adjourn for the summer. Homosexual activists are pushing hard for a vote on SB 10, the same-sex "marriage" bill. They are planning a rally at the State House tomorrow at 11 a.m.

We need you to join us to make a strong showing for natural marriage. If you are at all able to join us tomorrow morning at the Illinois State Capitol, please do so. We will meet in the Rotunda at 10 a.m.

Everything comes down to what happens before the end of the day tomorrow. If a vote isn't scheduled, we win a huge battle in the war to defend marriage.

Can we count on you? If you cannot make it, please commit to praying for our lawmakers and God's mercy on the state of Illinois.

What: Rally to Defend the Institution of Marriage When: Friday, May 31, 10:00 a.m. Where: Illinois State Capitol Rotunda

We only have a few hours left to stand strong. It's time to do everything we can to win.

Thank you,

David E. Smith, Executive Director Illinois Family Institute

The fact that the fight for marriage is coming down to the wire in this deep blue state controlled by Democrats, even with Pres. Obama pushing for its passage, is a testament first, to the good people of Illinois, of every race, creed and color who have worked hard to stand up for God's vision of marriage against relentless political and media pressure.

What kind of political pressure? One of the legislators in Springfield told the The African American Clergy Coalition (NOM has been working closely with them) that Gov. Quinn is offering holdout Representatives earmarks for their district such as "bridges and expressway extensions" if return for their yes vote on gay marriage.

Gay marriage is so "inevitable", in other words, the governor of this deep blue state has been forced to stoop to bribery and favor-peddling to pass it over the will of the people!

I called Speaker Madigan’s office, as well as my own reps, and told them I believe marriage is the union of one man and one woman. We’ll see what happens, but not optimistic about Madiganistan......

In my heyday I was active in two ward organizations the 23rd and the 12th in the 60’s 70;s and early 80s

That was when there was activity and the Republican party had minority State Representatives in each representative district. It was known as cumlativevoting. Three candidates would present themselves and get one vote each if you voted for three . If you voted for two.Eachcandidate would get one and one half vote each where there was one majority party rep and if the opposition Republican candidate garnered enough votes on minority party rep that candidate was elected . If not you had two majority party candidates in the state house for that district.

Republicans would push for 3 votes for their state represntative to get them elected that was done by only voting for one.

Quinn played key role in changing the state constitution and reducing the number of representatives in the state house. When that happened the Republican party never recovered. The Ward that Madigan is from (13th) had a Republican alderman a state senator and state representatives until that happened.

So they adjourned without voting on same sex marriage. Seems it was a stroke of poetic justice. The Dems have used the Black churches for years for political organizing. Seems it was lobbying by the Black churches that prevented it from coming up for a vote.
